Is there a way to start battery precondition using the app? Im onoy 10 minutes from the super charger when parked so Id like to start pre conditioning ahead of time

you can schedule it, but not start it. If you know you will be there at 7am thats not a problem.

You can try setting the SC destination in the app before driving and turning on climate. Not sure if this will precondition for SC but thats my best guess

Only way I know to precondition for fast charging is put the truck in drive and navigate to super charger. After a few mins of not moving the truck will however put its self back into park. Scheduled departure time will condition the battery for driving not fast fast charging. Surly this isn’t a good option, just drive to the supercharger and that additional time waiting for the charge to complete will be less then waiting in the driveway 30 mins. You could just navigate to the next further away charger. Regen breaking and AC use helps raise the temps of the octovalve which heats the packs. Hope that helps.

You can turn on climate and - if pack temps are low enough - that will begin heating of the battery. But that's not a quick process and pack heating will cease (~60ish Fahrenheit) well before desired DC Fast Charging temps are reached (~120 F).

Usual recommendation is to Supercharger before parking for the night, but that may not be feasible for you.

I'm curious about the extent of pre-conditioning benefit. If I towed my truck to a Supercharger with a cold-soaked battery, how long before the pack reached the ideal temperature? How much longer would the session be versus a fully pre-conditioned pack?

Every minute saved is a benefit when taking a long journey, but I don't think there's a need to obsess over it. The pack will warm very quickly at 800V lol.

I guess this is why I charge before I go to bed at hotel with no charging. I have sat a while in the morning waiting for the pack to warm up. Usually just a short drive away. Like two miles.

Yet I also wonder on the roadtrip aspect. How much time am I really saving?

Time is money! But so is money! Most of the hotels i stay at have a close SC, some accross the street. And the majority of them have much cheaper charging before 8am. some are almost half price. The one that is accross the street, i will drive over and leave the truck charging while i eat breakfast back at the hotel. usually done about the same time. So in that case it doesnt matter if it takes a few extra minutes to charge. Of course i live in Cali so we're not talking about sub zero temps.

The charge curve on the Cybertruck is already conservative, even when arriving at a Supercharger with a pack fully conditioned and up to temp.

Attempting to DC Fast Charge when the pack hasn't been heated is an exercise in frustration - a quite large battery pack and a very low charge rate. I've ever only done that once.

Bringing a truly cold-soaked pack to a Supercharger would be agony. Bring a good book.

The Chicago Supercharger fiasco a year ago was exactly that... cold-soaked packs that took forever before they could begin taking a meaningful charge - heating the pack doesn't happen very quickly even when ambient temps are human-comfortable.
