I thought about the cover idea, but idk if theres any rules against having things in front of your lights. It would also have to be optically clear so as to not distort or refract the headlights in undesirable directions (like into other drivers’ eyes…)
I guess a simpler solution is to remove the plastic bumper cover (summer cover) and install a bull bar kit (winter cover).

Every car in Europe does . Thats alot of cars and would make me think most.
Yeah, no. Why lie like that?

Question though, isn't the tape too low and too far from headlights to do much given it's temp output?
It doesn't need to be that warm - just warm enough to keep that surface above freezing. Then the snow and ice wouldn't have anything to sit upon.

At least that the theory.

My solution was to file a complaint with NHTSA today. It’s insane that we have to do this. I had my family in the car at night and it wasn’t snowing very heavily but this still happened. Couldn’t see a damn thing. This is nuts and they need to fix it. What’s another recall to throw on the pile. Then again I couldn’t see anything anyway because my washer fluid sprays in tiny little useless amounts.

Save a life. File a complaint:

FWIW I’ve got over 13k miles and have mostly loved this thing, until the winter. Oh and don’t use slippery surface mode more than a few times because you’ll get an error that it needs gear oil very soon. Sick Tesla. Siiiick.

Can you also file a complaint for this fellow while you are at it.

lol I am not lying … Crissa

Cars in EU which is most of Europe have to have a headlight washer on the headlights to prevent light scatter from debris and snow etc . It’s the law .

In the US it’s not regulated the same but I would expect any high end off road vehicle to have them amd they do .

Yes, you are.

They're only for new cars with certain headlights. They don't apply to all cars, and they doesn't apply to old cars.

Geez. It's a great idea, but won't fly in the US.

lol it is humorous that someone from Santa Cruz has all the ideas on how to fix a snow problem with the cybertruck ..
Hilarious that you think I grew up here or never drive where it snows.

As soon as there will be snowfall, I will be quick to post a video of it in action.
I am enthusiastically waiting for the post snowfall update. I highly encourage your tinkering and the creative solution you have here.

Bro please. I used to test drive cars. I’ve driven so many cars. Good cars. Bad cars. Everything. Only one car “designed in California” has the issue where your headlights quickly disappear in a very mild snowstorm. Of all the dumb nonsense I’ve gotten from NHTSA regarding Tesla , this one actually should be a recall.

Oh please, nobody in Europe actually drives. They walk and use bicycles and horse-drawn carriages and stuff
