first off, you said you had a family; the Tesla cyber truckhas been voted with the safest truck in the world. That should be enough to start. secondly, you will quickly notice the wonders of steer by wire and rear wheel steering.. when you get back into any other TESLA, or any other car for that matter, it feels like a truck! My Cyber Beast feels like you’re driving a big ass sports car that embarrasses Corvettes at the stoplight. . I have full self driving in the foundation series for life and I love it. 90% of my driving is by full self driving. Take it from an old guy that was born and raised in Chicago on far south side.

I love your take on it.
You brought up an important point. One of the reasons why I sold my 2023 Model X and replaced it with Juniper Y Performance is the driving dynamics. The X drove like a boat.

We may keep the Performance and trade in the other Y we have, so that may not be as important of a point for me, but how is the Cybertruck's driving experience? Is it floaty? How does it corner? Is it agile?

Preferred Ride Height (if equipped)

• Lower: Sets the Preferred Ride Height to Lower. The ride height remains at Low on and off the highway by default, optimizing handling and range (see Suspension).
• Higher: Sets the Preferred Ride Height to Higher. When set to Higher, the ride height automatically adjusts between Medium and Low to balance ride comfort with handling and range. On highways or while driving at highway speeds, ride height adjusts to Low (see Suspension)

I test drove it today.
Impressed overall. That dashboard is massive, no kidding.

The steer by wire to a few moments to get used to it, but once I did... brilliant.

There were no rattles, no squeaks, it felt just as solidly built as my Juniper Y Performance. Drives nice, but not sporty like the Y, which is expected. It's a great vehicle!

I get harassed, my husband not much. He is a big guy. Ladies can be awfully caddie. We have other Tesla's. Many times it is people that are vacationers. Often from your state.

Looking back. We were both excited about the truck. Yet we thought we would use it more for truck stuff. Yet didn't as much as we thought. Then having to talk about the truck often even in good and bad isn't fun.

Overall with the service issues and the often hatred slash laughter we wouldn't have bought it again.

I missed the size and the utility of the Model X, as well as some of the nicer finishes, like the Alcantara and the large windshield.

At the same time, I keep finding myself in need of a truck both for work and home. So, that's why I'm considering a Cybertruck.
Questions:

1. How is the build quality in 2026, compared to Juniper Y. Any rattles? Is the cabin quiet?
2. How is the driving dynamic? Is it more like the Y or more like the X?
3. Are you guys getting harassed by other drivers still? I haven't experienced anything like that with any of our Teslas, but I live in Chicago suburb and here just about every other car is a Tesla.
4. Any other advice?

I have had mine for two weeks now. I don't know what earlier units were like but I would rate the build quality good on mine. Panel gaps are all aligned pretty well, not 100% perfect but none are terrible. Interior build quality I'd rate as good as any other vehicle I've owned. The premium stereo system in absolutely incredible. I'll probably go deaf because of this truck.

The CT is the first EV I've owned so I can't compare the driving dynamics to the Y. But overall its quite with no noticble rattles or noises. Road noise is not any better or worse than my Ram 1500 I previously had, but it was a pretty quiet truck, so I'd rate it as good.

I live in a very conservative part of Texas and have had no negative encounters. I don't think people even pay attention to it anymore. Your milage may vary.

My advice is buy it. FSD is a life changing feature. I did a road trip to Austin this weekend, 900 miles round trip. FSD drove every mile. I had one takeover that was a navigation issue, in less than 200' FSD was back in control. I don't think I could ever own another car that doesn't have FSD. I showed lots of family members, who all thought FSD was like Ford Blue cruise or GM's Super Cruise. They all saw firsthand what FSD can do and that everything else is just glorified lane keep assist. The Cybertruck is the undefeated champ of changing people's opinions.

I've owned trucks from Ram, Ford, GM and Chevrolet. The CT is the best and it's not close. The only thing I wish it could do is pull trailers long distances more efficiently. More pull through superchargers are needed.

Define “agile”? It’s going to be relative to personal preferences. The “comfort” setting reminds me of wranglers and their boat-like ride and cornering but to a lesser degree. “Sport” setting provides a better daily ride for me.

One thing for sure, you won’t see a cybertruck at any Autocross events.

Got my CB 23 months ago. 22K miles. Still quiet, no rattles.

I only have driven a loaner Y for a few hours, and I liked my truck way better.

I was at Kroger parking lot yesterday (Rochester Hills, Mi), and (5) separate people came up to me asking all the usual questions. (2) different blacks, one very old lady (upper 70's), a 40 something and one other person I can't remember. I happily told them about how wonderful my truck was/is. Two of them asked permission if they could take a picture of my truck. The old lady asked me like 3 times what the name of my truck was and who made it. I usually get at least 1-2 per week of niceties. I would say, I only get maybe two negative per YEAR, with at least 100+ positives.

1. Any other advice?

Get the CyberBeast, much more fun....!

Also, my biggest fear was that I was afraid of the size and that I would have a lot of trouble parking it. BUT, with the 4 wheel steering, my fears were allayed. It also will park itself, but it will make you butt pucker up big time when it gets so close to other cars while it maneuvers! (LOL!)

I forgot to mention something. If anyone wants to know, the Cyberbeast I test drove today did not include the rivet on the gas petal. I'm guessing they permanently (and more elegantly) fixed that problem.

I have an early Foundation with 24K miles. Love it on the highway and in town. My only two dislikes are the windshield wipers do not keep the windshield clean, throws fluid in places the blade can’t reach. Second, the headrest is very uncomfortable on long trips. Both solvable minor issues compared to the joy of driving it and letting it chauffeur you around!

Did you test drive a beast or AWD? Beast has significantly more power / sporty’er feeling. AWD is plenty powerful don’t get me wrong, beast is just a beast.

Edit: just seen you did have a demo Beast, Did you put it in Beast mode?

For me the first driving impression sparked the path to buying

During a long demo drive I noticed I was driving with one hand

never was I able to drive a truck with one hand

One thing for sure, you won’t see a cybertruck at any Autocross events.

TeslaKen took his Cybertruck to the autocross track starting in 2024 and in his first event he placed 5th out of a large field of autocrossers (including 30 Porche).

A 6600 lb. truck probably wouldn't be anyone's first choice for autocross but it's hard to argue with his 5th place finish! Oh, and he had All-Terrain tires on it. Bone stock.

I would say just buy one. Have had allot of performance vehicles and the beast is near the top for me. Is it a great performance car no, but it does so many things right. It’s by far the best road trip car I’ve ever had.

I have a 25 and there are no rattles and nothing notable build quality wise. Haven’t driven a awd but the beast is very agile for a truck and when driving it aggressively it feels like a sporty sedan. Think bmw 550 not M5. As far as negative attention I have gotten a couple middle fingers but outside that it is typically very positive reactions.
