I took delivery on 9/18, and already had two interesting encounters on the road on top of just people gawking at it.

In one instance, I was driving on the HOV lane, looked at my rear camera and noticed I saw nothing except the grille of some Dodge Ram. This guy was pretty much glued to my ass. So naturally, I hit the accelerator and sped up and in an instant, created a 1/2 a football field distance between me and him. I guess I hurt his feelings cause about 30 seconds later he proceeded to pass me then drive recklessly between the HOV and the lane next to it passing every vehicle back and forth. Wish I had saved the footage... this is my first Tesla and I mistakenly thought upgrading the storage meant keeping all footage longer.

The second interesting encounter was from earlier today... a kid riding a motorcycle or dirt bike on the road was ahead of me and proceeded to do an IG live or something with me in the background. Sped past him too... this thing is too fun.

You can set the left scroll wheel to automatically record the last 10 minutes, look through your menus to confirm but its there As well beeping the horn based on your situation, by default most often records as well.

I like to park on a city street and loiter on a nearby bench to hear the reactions so sorely absent from Sentry footage.

The best negative comment was “that thing is a tank, it should be illegal” and Best Comment Ever was “well at least now I know it’s real!”

I get about 1 negative for every 100 or so positives. Half the time even the negatives are curious to take a look inside or are just ignorant of the vehicle. The media really blows the hate out of proportion compared to my 8 months of experience.
Same here! I get 80 or 100 positive reactions for every isolated negative reaction. The media doesn't want to report on this, they try to create false narratives to amplify the hate, to make it seem normal, they don't care about the truth. It's disgusting what the media has become. They have no self-respect anymore. Always trying to divide us against each other.

And then you look on social media, article comments or YouTube Cybertruck comments. 1 positive for every 80 to 100 negative.

It’s much easier for a hateful minority of people to sit there and pounce on any article / YouTube video and fill the comments with hate.

As for media, what gets more eyeballs? “Cybertruck is a fantastic overall vehicle and owners love it!” Or “another dangerous cybertruck recall: the no-crumple menace of the road”

Ok, inquiring minds need to know. now that we‘re invested in the story, what happened?
What conversations were started inside the restaurant and what type of physical reactions occurred outside while you ate breakfast looking out the window at the passerby’s? 😎
It was a fun morning. I have a very red state kind of bumper sticker on the tailgate and a US flag on display on the large top of the dashboard under the front window. This is, after all, a red state and a red county and a red town. At the restaurant there was not much visible reaction because the only customers that came in while I was there were not local. One car full of customers did stop to take pictures as I watched on the sentry. I did have some nice comments and conversations with the staff. I will see if i get any reports through my spy back channel, the cook at the restaurant.

I dropped by the insurance office as they had requested and gave a ride to the agent. He was impressed even in standard acceleration mode.

The next stop was my brother's heavy equipment shop. He and his business partner and their employees are all gear heads and no work got done for about two hours while we discussed every mechanical and technical detail of the truck.

I also surprised one of my neighbors and had a nice conversation when she asked me to stop by for an unrelated reason.

Many of these people were not totally surprised. I had talked previously about having a reservation but I was about 1.9 million down on that list and didn't expect to get a CT for years until the foundation series invitation arrived in July.

Over all I had all positive reactions. Nothing negative at all, at least to my face.

That's pretty impressive, considering you live in Wyoming. If I had to guess the least EV friendly state, I would instantly say "Wyoming", because that's the only state's legislature I know of that actually introduced a bill that would make it illegal to sell electric vehicles in the state. Of course it was all show, and no "go", but still...

If anyone gives you any shit, just tell them you bought it just in case that Democrat wins, because you needed something faster than the black SUVs the feds drive, and with enough payload capacity, for when they come to confiscate your arsenal. 🤪

I picked up 9/14 & the truck situation you mentioned has happened to me like 3 times already (2 of the times with my 4 & 7 year old in the car with me). A Ram, Raptor & a Tundra. Apparently the Cybertruck excites something inside of these people to want to race/antagonize…it’s hilarious & a little said to me, smh, LoL

I was a bit surprised but I am getting more negative reactions. Been cut off, break tested, the ole head shake...very strange behavior...... A guy walked up to me in the Ace Hardware parking lot as I was getting out today and said, " I hate this thing," I said, " yeah, it's not for everyone" It is over 90 degrees here and he came over two parking lanes to tell me this.....odd. Maybe off his meds, oh well.

I live in Cheyenne and have a Beast. There’s at least 10 Cybertrucks here and we’re absolutely destroying the “my jacked up truck is faster than you” mentality.
Most people think it’s incredible. The ones who don’t are a delight to f**k with. 🤣😂

I live in a town so small that it doesn't have a stoplight. It has been in the town coffeeshop and bar gossip when someone has spotted a Cybertruck driving through on the highway. I personally never saw one on the highway myself. I did see one with a yellow wrap parked at a car dealership in a nearby small city. The only people in town who knew I was getting a Cyberbeast are the two people in the insurance office. They said they would not tell anyone else but I had to promise them that I would bring the truck by their office when I got it. I drove to the distribution center in Utah last Friday to pick up mine and never saw any other cybertrucks until I arrived at the DC. I never saw any on the way back either. I stopped at a supercharger on the way back. There were a couple other Teslas there but no trucks. The other Tesla owners did not seem to notice.

I snuck into town about dusk and parked in my garage apparently without anyone recognizing me. I drove my other vehicle to the bar the next afternoon and did not hear anything about a cybertruck coming through. It is going to be fun tomorrow morning to go the my usual Monday morning breakfast restaurant with the new truck. I'm not sure what the reaction is going to be in a small town.
Living in “Moose” Wyoming on a dirt road so I can identify. Some royal responses in Pinedale. I parked at the NAPA auto parts store where we were buying some spark plugs for a very old speed boat on Fremont Lake. All the staff in the store came out to take a look and ask me questions. No hostility - just curiosity and excellent questions. They appreciated that my Beast is the future and they are forward looking. An old timer driving by in an ATV was also positive. This world is a changing.

The way the heavy equipment people responded says it all for me. They live in the real world! Cheering for them 100%.

The first day I picked up my CT I stopped at a hotel to charge after 10:30 pm and no sooner than I moved to the parking area these young ladies swarmed to the vehicle to make over it. I was tired and not ready to party and turned down the requests to attend a car show, twerk, go out into the night, etc. I hastily departed for the hotel lobby and promptly related the story to my wife by phone. I knew I would relish the chance to tell this at a later time to friends backed up by pictures so I figured tell her now. Her first response was “ if this vehicle is going to bring this kind of reaction, then let’s just sell it right away”!

I would say that episode has been the most overt reaction I have experienced but with the scarcity of CT’s in my area not a day has gone by without thumbs up, good histrionics, or every other positive greeting. I have yet to have a single negative gesture or comment uttered within hearing range. I usually devote several minutes to folks when kids or people approach to inquire or marvel at it. Kids are the greatest… they are much too aware of this vehicle and call me “Elon” etc.

I was driving down the street with the windows down on a warm day. As I was driving by a man standing in his yard, who looked at my CT, I heard him yell "what the hell?" with his arms raised!

I saw a man taking a picture of my CT while I was parked. I asked him what do you think? He said, "he doesn't like it." Wondering why he took the picture then?
People either love it or hate it. They would honk and give me the thumbs up or some would give me the thumbs down or finger! I think of people hate Elon Musk they hate the CT. It very weird how people react to the CT.

I'd say about 2/3 the responses are good. The last 1/3 is a mix of don't care all the way to rude gestures/profanity/'I'm going to burn it'.

Kids love it 100%.
I had an older guy in a white vet try to get away from me on an onramp to the interstate then he buzzed around me for a bit. I thought he was a hater but he eventually gave me a thumbs up.

Lots of questions: "Is it real?" "What is it? " "What does it run on?" "Are you rich?" "Did you make it?" "Is it fast?" Lots of interest in charge rates. Lots of shock at the frunk concept. Haters really don't ask questions so much as throw negative comments at me or it.

Its amazing how much of a kids day you can make if you tell them they can touch it or sit in it (some adults are just big kids when it comes to the cybertruck). That really surprised me.

As I'm using it to promote the concept of freedom in money (bitcoin) its been a great conversation starter for that. Also interesting how people will ask you about it when you've told them thats what you paid for it with. (not political, just a passion)
Follow up after several weeks of having it.

There was a car show last Saturday in town and I asked the organizer if they wanted it in it. She was excited.
I got a lot of reactions at the show. Probably 4 dozen kids crawled through it (I have some cleaning to do, lol). I was put in the back in a parking lot but had a couple cars move away because the cybertruck was getting all the attention.
Still about 2/3 positive. Had some people argue how it was bad, a few just shake there heads, but a lot more had questions. Lots about the price, still got one person asking me if I made it, and of course the does it rust, how much is the battery, and many others of the expected questions. A group of 12-15 corvettes in a club showed up and I talked to a couple of them but surprisingly still ended up with more attention than they did.

I get cars and trucks reving when they drive by my house daily. Lots of kids yelling out car windows that they like it. I got another boo today from a car driving by.

I had a 90+ year old lady in a restaurant parking lot tell me it looks like a spaceship and at first she thought it was.

Drove by a middle school when they were loading up the busses and got a bunch of boo's but even more 'cybertruck!'. My son told me I started several bus fights (verbal), lol.

Still seems to be a polarizing experience but mostly positive.

Also has anyone else felt like the black sheep of the Tesla community? Kindof feel like that some times at charging stations.
