I’ve been loving my Cybertruck since I got it a few months back. I braced myself for some hate, knowing it’s a bold vehicle tied to a polarizing figure. Honestly, I was ready for it—thought I’d get some eye-rolls or snarky comments. But aside from an old lady calling my truck a trash can (which I laughed off), it’s been smooth sailing… until recently.

Today, my wife was driving our Cybertruck with our young kids in the back seat. At an intersection, some biker locked eyes with her and flipped her off—right in front of our kids. A week ago, another driver did something similar. Unprovoked, no reason, just pure hostility. What kind of coward targets a woman with young kids over a truck? It’s beyond frustrating—it’s infuriating.

I get that some folks hate the Cybertruck because of Elon Musk’s politics, and they think they’re taking some moral stand. But flipping off a family? That’s their high ground? It’s pathetic.

I’m trying not to let this get under my skin, but when it’s my family, the protective side kicks in hard. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense? How do you shake it off and not let it ruin the Cybertruck experience? I’m all ears for advice, because I want to keep enjoying this beast without these clowns getting in my head.
Brainwashable sheep are in all groups of society. Whatever the side or perception, many sheep are often alike while just being in different corrals.

Some sheep are now activated because the MSM told them to think something about Elon.

Others are activated because maybe they are deeply invested in diesel or gas trucks (or bikes) with their peers implying what is "cool" or not, and their desperate need for their peers approval.

Teslas are totally flipping that "coolness" on its head both with acceleration, driving experience, and much lower costs per mile, so the very sight of a Tesla continues to taunt them.

Time will see more and more Teslas on the road. So, this (perceived) problem for the sheep is not going away and I'll be doing my part to increase healthy reality checks for them too.

We will likely see more of this until the sheep are herded in another direction.

Question, was the bikers motorcycle made by Subaru? In all seriousness, the best you can do is ignore it, take it as a badge of honor. The kind of people who do this to a woman with children are exactly the same people who wouldn't do it if there was a big dude in the drivers seat.

A lot of people with mental issues are exposing themselves right now for all to see. Nothing you can do to help the people with those issues, just make sure your wife and kids are safe from these people.

I like the idea of sending the footage to the persons boss or wife or whatever. Just not sure I want to be an investigator and figure out who they are and all that.
plus, then there is a chance you will have an ongoing interaction with said idiot which isn’t at all what I want.
I’d rather just sail away in almost all cases. Have you seen any of those road rage reality tv shows? No thanks.
yeah best to avoid and ignore. There's a lot of people with nothing to lose. Someone in Florida gets shot all the time trying to fight with idiots on the road.

The truck just causes anger and jealousy for various reasons. Elon hate, EV hate, etc. It's also a show of wealth and that causes these reactions too. They may hate the Cybertruck but they also would like to have the money to buy a Cybertruck. Best to just let it go and move on.

I just ignore all the peasants around me in traffic in their peasant gas fueled jalopies. Why bother with whatever they think? They do it for your reaction. I don't even see 99% of it.
And as Charlie Munger said, it's envy that makes the world go round. They are envious of what others have.

Turn it into a learning experience for your kids about how sick and irrational some people in this world are. A good father shields his children from such things as long as possible, of course, but at some point the sunshine and rainbows fade.

Your ability to take a negative reaction/experience and turn it into something positive for them will make a huge difference.

I'd say something like: "kids, that's a good example of someone to stay clear of. They are probably a very irrational and unstable person. It's best to just smile, wave, and move on. They want to provoke a mutual negative reaction, but we aren't going to give that to them."

There are many people who receive this treatment simply for existing.

…let that sink in for a bit

Humans in general need a thick skin.…carry on and be happy for life.

I had this lady in a Subaru tailgating me for 20 miles this last Saturday and holding up her middle finger and waving it at me the entire time. She would hug the left line so whenever I looked in the side mirror she could see me and she would wave and waggle her finger even more. Saved the dashcam footage and thought about posting it. Some people are just miserable.

I'm not a big turn the other cheek kind of guy. I go back at them hard. I hit my obnoxious horn, roll down the window and go right back at them. I refuse to play to the electric car owner stereotype that we are all green loving, tofu eating, pasifists. I've had my truck for just under a year and have seen it all. Prior to the election, I was getting flipped off by all the "bubba trucks" because they thought I was a liberal. Now, I get flipped off by all the old people who have moved down to Florida from liberal states. Old people, and women with purple hair...

All the above being true, I still get stopped in just about every other parking lot with people asking to see the interior or asking to taking a picture of it with their kids. It is an amazing vehicle.

I've kept my cool. And I've lost it. Not proud of it but poke a bear enough times and "fuck around find out" becomes a thing. My daughter was in the truck with me when some douche in the passenger seat of his girlfriends land rover held his finger out at us, arm stretched, for almost a minute insuring we see it. Next light I pulled up on the curb hitting my mirror to his, rolled down my window, he rolled down his. I asked him why he gave me the finger, he said cause of what I drive. I spat in his face, pulled in front of them, lignt turned green and I went.

I have my company logo on the truck so no surprise that the cops were calling me a couple hours later. I talked my way out of it and nothing came of it, luckily. Even the cop said she couldn't believe he told her he fingered someone off cause of what they were driving.

Clown world.

Ill continue to take the high road from now on but sometimes we all can loose it.?
