Has anyone tried a hitch mounted bike rack? Does that make the rear view camera, which is effectively the mirror, useless? Seems like it wouldn’t work too well.

It depends on the bikes and the bike rack.

It can't be any less then when I was hauling my boat yesterday.

When FSD comes, the bike rack may keep it from being enabled.
Putting in the bed could be a better idea. And then if you leave the tonneau open, you can even use the center mirror.

I had a Yakima long arm mounted a couple weeks ago with the intention to help support a kayak I was looking to purchase. On the way to the paddle shop it was directly in front of the camera. I wouldn’t say it was useless, but def couldn’t see as much. It is a wide angle camera, though, so I could still see if someone started passing me. I will say the side view mirrors have been better than I feared too, which really helps when hauling something long that requires the tailgate to remain down (with the cam pointed at the ground).

I just did a camping trip with a hitch mount bike rack. It does obscure the view partially. Doesn't both me much since it is not any different than driving with a trailer attached, just use the side mirrors. I do wonder how they thought eliminating the side mirrors would have worked in real life though.

I agree that it isn't awful with a hitch mounted rack from a view perspective. The bigger issue with my Thule rack is that no matter the rack position (without a bike), you can't open the truck bed completely.

Interesting, that is something I was surprised by. I can actually open my bed with my rack on. You can see it in the picture.
