I am trying to figure out if my rear camera is having a problem. I spoke to a service advisor and she said to wait a while before bringing the CB in as it may be a problem that others are experiencing and a fix may be in the works. When the zoomable rearview camera update came in, I noticed that if the display is at one of the zoomed levels, when driving at night, all of the headlights cause halos or glare so much so that when there is a lot of traffic behind me I can't see any details because of all the glare. I have cleaned the camera lens many times and it hasn't improved. It isn't as noticeable at the default level, but the zoomed levels really amplify the problem.

Normal experience for now.

The rear camera digital display is new to Tesla, so it will definitely be improved over time. There are limited CPU cycles available for post processing the image that you are seeing on the screen, so they have to strike a delicate balance between performance and visual quality.

I like the zoomed image, just need to be able to zoom in more. It is still too small to be of use as a true rear-view mirror replacement.

That was one of my main complaints during the Cybertruck Q&A with Wes. They played the image on the main screen as better than a rear view mirror, but it simply isn't. It's physically smaller than a mirror and the image brightness is tied to the overall screen brightness which dimmed at night. The end result is a dimmed image of a washed out camera view.

What I'd kill for, is an inline HDMI splitter to clone the rear camera feed and feed the zoomed image to a digital mirror display where brightness and contrast can be controlled separately from the main screen. The rear view is really of limited use at night anyway, since it's dimmed to avoid blinding lights. It's really only useful for identifying the lights behind you, but it's still an integral part of maintaining a situational awareness of my surroundings. I would like the image higher up and brighter with better post-processing (contrast might be enough).
