I've got a early delivery Model 3. It appears that Tesla is using a similar algorithm to those deliveries.
To the end-user it might of well been random.
But it started with employees, then influencers VIPs, then California and then certain areas.
They were only delivering the LR RWD Model 3s for the first 6 months.
It also added different colors to the mix.
But overall it was close to sequential, but you never knew it going forward.
For the Cybertruck, it's of course employees, a few influencers, (just too many these days). TX and CA. Duplicates are being weeded out and then some states. It may appear that some delivery centers will be getting them first (which suggest a trained service center).
But even once you configure, that probably won't have much to do with delivery.
The best thing for those who have reserved, get everything ready as if they were going to deliver tomorrow.
But assume Memorial Day delivery. Then you may be pleasantly surprised.
A lot of the same thing still goes on when ordering a car. Cars are built in batches, one week they are painting black, the next week blue, the next is white. The cars are then staged for delivery, but they then need to fill up a transport to a single store before they ship it. Once it heads toward the store, they then assign the VIN and you start to hear about your delivery.
Treat it like the lottery. You actually have better chances here.
