I've noticed since the update that the truck wants to drive around in medium height rather than low as it used to before. I've checked the settings and my preference is for low.

However, it has been very snowy and foggy around here recently, so I don't know if FSD has decided medium makes more sense in these conditions? Although it's still in medium when FSD is off... Also, the roads are now simply wet, with snowy windrows on the side, so height for clearance is totally irrelevant.

I'm wondering if anybody else has noticed this behavior? And whether it's a firmware issue or simply a feature reacting to the weather conditions...

You might have it in comfort mode for fsd, which sets a medium preferred ride height.

I will check that. I didn't realize that they'd added a seperate mode for FSD.

When FSD switches off, should my regular mode become active? I'm seeing medium height when I'm sitting in my driveway or a destination after FSD is cancelled... 🤔

A few updates back they added that the car would switch to comfort drive dynamics when fsd was engaged by default. This could be turned off in autopilot settings.
your truck should revert to whatever settings you had after you disengage if it can.
if you have comfort selected, or if you have “higher” selected for ride height, it will drive around in medium on city streets. If you have “sport” or “lower” selected, it will tend to drive around in low mode. You can also select and save ride height preferences by location. What you're noticing may be some combination of any of these settings.

Ok, thanks. I'll poke around. I've always had "lower" set as a preference and it still is. And I cleared the location settings memory just in case.

Maybe a reboot is in order too...

My guess is they run Tesla self-driving in only one height setting to standardize and simplify the code.
It might perform differently at different heights, complicating the code writing

I've noticed this too for regular non fsd driving, except the exact opposite of what's happening to you. I have my preferred ride height to medium and it goes to low when I start driving down the road. I'm in snowy conditions as well.

Well that's just bizarre! I'm going to reboot it now while I'm thinking about it. 🤦‍♂️

If you put the vehicle in FSD it will automatically go to medium high setting.

I love the Medium ride height so hadn’t noticed. Heck, I’d have it run in High mode if Tesla would let me!
I sumrise that at highway [freeway!?] speeds low height lowers the wind resistance and increases range.

I must admit, I do enjoy at stop lights next to 3500 lifted pickups - raising the CT to be at their height...Don't know if they notice...

Regards
Jack

My concern is that it would wear out the pneumatics that do lifting/lowering prematurely every time I get into and out of the truck. Is there a setting that would keep it at the easy entry position.
