Day 4 with the new AWD and the learning curve doesn’t seem so steep (it’s my first Tesla) and the joy factor is greater than I had imagined.

One thing caught me off guard, though:

While at a stop sign today on an uphill incline, as traffic cleared I let my foot off the brake and onto the accelerator, and the truck rolled backward as if it had shifted into neutral. I hit the brake again to stop it, then punched the accelerator and the truck took off. Never had that happen before or since, but I’ve never been stopped on an incline like that either since getting the truck.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a Tesla thing that I’m just learning, being a Tesla rookie?

When you give the brake a good press and release a sort of small circular symbol should appear on the screen which means the brakes are locked on. If you touch the brake again or the acccelerator it releases.

Never had the issue and the exit from my garage is on a very steep incline. I crawl to a stop and it will hold where it stands without even having to use the brake pedal.

I’ve noticed roll back as well on minor inclines - so I was wondering the same thing.
I don’t recall the Y ever doing it so it caught me by surprise.

Same here. I wonder if it’s a bug. None of the other Tesla I drove did this before.

Probably a bug. I also have a MYP and the Cybertruck. My driveway is kind of steep. When I release the accelerator for the MYP the car holds. However, the Cybertruck does roll which also caught me off guard and had to press on the brake to prevent rolling, but for some reason it doesn’t happen all the time.

I've noticed roll back/forward on small inclines even if I'm continuing to hold my foot on the brake. I can't tell for sure what's happening, but it feels like the truck is releasing and reapplying the brakes quickly. It's more movement than suspension height change could cause.

I'd guessing you may have roll mode turned on.
If hold is turned on, you wouldn't have had to hold your foot on the brake.

Being so new to Tesla, there are modes I’m not aware of, and roll mode is among them. Thanks for the heads-up on that. After nearly 60 years of driving the old-fashioned way, holding the brake pedal is a habit I’m learning to break with this truck.
