Not only that, but reportedly the new MS Plaid has a lower top speed than my ‘23 MS Plaid and I paid $10k less!!!

Pound for pound, my Plaid is the best deal that I’ve had with Tesla. Got it after the massive price drop, transferred FSD even got it during the window where I was able to run Steam on it. Right after they started charging you more for round steering wheel. Perfectly timed on that one!

I’m glad I’m not one of these guys who gets less enjoyment out of their other vehicles because of their CT. There isn’t a single one of my cars that doesn’t still cause me to turn my head and look back at it and marvel that I was in a position to be able to acquire it.
Im the idiot who got one at near peak pricing.

I said something similar the first time we took delivery of the Highland - it’s so good that it will canibalize the S. We just bought Model Y Juniper last week and same - I don’t see much value in paying twice more for a Model X.
Yeah, it would just be for the auto opening/closing doors or if you just needed falcon wings in your life. Hard to justify the price difference for that, plus you’d lose the sweet auto folding, reclining rear seats of the new Y.

I saw an article about that too. They used to always list the top speed as 200 mph, then had a footnote saying you needed the carbon ceramic brake kit/track package for that top speed. Now they’re just listing what it is as you get it, so it’s not slower. The track package is still available for the refresh to allow it to hit 200.

But, I thought it said the top speed was 149. I think I have a faster top speed of 149 without the brake/tire upgrade that’s required.

*Updated: I show 163 from my model year (and 175 in track mode), that’s before the track pack upgrade to 200. Apparently, the new car is heavier which may explain this discrepancy.

It is quite mind-boggling that anyone would buy an X AWD for $90K over a CT AWD for $80K (or $72.5K for some people)
Some people just don’t like trucks.

Maybe it's just me, but I was most surprised by the absence of the "signature" front light bar, as seen on the Cybertruck, Model Y Juniper, and Cybercab. I just assumed that this would be a distinctive feature of all new Teslas going forward, but apparently not.

I realize that the S/X are no longer big sellers, so maybe there is no budget for a substantial redesign. But adding the "signature" light bar would have been a relatively inexpensive cosmetic change, and it would have at least made the S/X look newer.
They are likely not “big” sellers because the innovation and quality has stagnated. There are way too many options in the $100k range that far exceed both of those factors.

This update is ridiculously lazy! smh!

It is getting increasingly hard to justify their price. What does the S offer that the 3 doesn’t? Some range and some size? Still, with that extra size (if we’re being honest), 3 adults DO NOT fit comfortably in the rear seats of an S. It isn’t worth $30K+ over a 3. Not even close.
Ok, now you are tripping! The S has been far superior in every regard to the Model 3

Full size sedan
Handling
Adaptive air suspension
Higher quality interior and features
Faster

I have a decent amount of experience with both. The S is most definitely not far superior. Maybe slightly better, I’ll give ya. If you’re going Plaid, sure, go to town. Anyone buying an S AWD should go with the 3 Performance.

Full size sedan
- Okay? Still essentially a 4-seater.
Handling
- 3 handles better. Shorter wheelbase = tighter turning circle.
Adaptive air suspension
- Okay again. Very actively used feature on a sedan, I’m sure.
Higher quality interior and features
- Hardly. Interiors feel very much the same. The S has a screen that tilts and rear seat phone chargers. That’s ’bout it for differences.
Faster
- Hard no. 3 Performance has a faster 0-60 and top speed. Just get that one and save $30K.

The ONLY thing you have to get past is the status symbol of the S versus the 3. The 3 is a far better value hands down.

MS has better seats, more room, 3 screens, better suspension. If you can't afford a MS, THE M3 is fine, but it's a different tier of vehicle. I've owned both and they aren't comparable.

Maybe I just don’t appreciate the finer things in life, because they feel quite similar to me as far as “luxury” goes.

I bought the X. We have a 2023 six-seater X but we have three kids in car seats and not having them all in the same row is a big pain. So while the refresh is quite underwhelming, it's a quality of life upgrade.

when getting into a plane people admire & wish to be in the Business class but then find it's okay in the Economy seats. It's both Contentment & Money-Money Talks really loud!

The y and x are a different category of car just like the S and 3. It may seem like this on paper but we have been living with one model x or another since 2016 and it’s a vastly superior family car to model y in my opinion.
When we were shopping for our refresh we were hellbent on getting the y. We drove them back to back repeatedly to try convince ourselves we could spend half as much and be equally happy. Could not successfully do this convincing. It’s not even close.
