Sales Tax Charged but Tesla Registered Tag as Out of State Paying No Tax

As the title implies, I paid a rather hefty $7500 sales tax. When receiving my registration Tesla only paid $56 for registration that included no sales tax and registered the tag in Shelby County as an out of state registration.

Anyone else experience this?

Seems right to me, sales tax is 7%, so it’s not so hefty. As long as you have the bill of sale stating that you paid your taxes then you have paid your tax obligation on the vehicle. You wouldn’t have been able to register that car without proving to the DMV that the taxes had been paid. Is there something I’m missing? That registration fee is not tax.
