Sales Tax question for out of state purchase

Hey yall,

I just ordered and i live in Alabama. My delivery location is showing as Pensacola, FL. And in the vehicle price section on the app, it shows sales tax of about $2k. Previously i've bought A Model 3 & Model Y, from Kennesaw, GA location and did not have the sales tax factored in. Is this new or am i dumb?

Probably just a mistake on the app. Just ignore it and remember your license plate is going to be really really expensive! ?

The sales tax is based upon where the truck is sold. If Tesla has the wrong delivery location, that should be fixed well before you get your VIN assigned.

Always make sure your new vehicle is getting delivered to your preferred location early in the process, before Tesla ships your vehicle there, or you may have to get a new VIN assigned which could, in some cases, add weeks to your delivery timeline.

That's really odd advice. Never ignore the delivery location. That's where Tesla will ship your new vehicle.

Well he should definitely call the SC to confirm... That being said, when I have purchased vehicles out of state I didn't pay sales tax since I didn't live there. The sales tax was added to the price of my license plate. Tesla could possibly base the tax off of the state you live in and they send it to your tax collector. No clue, call Tesla to find out what to do.
