Seat belt locking up?

I’ve never had a problem but my wife has a problem with the seat belt that goes across her chest locking up for no reason. She has to unbuckle and rebuckle to get the upper belt to unlock and move freely. I’ve never had it do that to me. Anyone have any insights?

My wife said the same thing happens in our CT - only on the passenger side though.

You pull the belt to put it on, it locks after pulling it about 1 foot... Speed does not matter... Then, you can release it and pull it again and belt it (IF you don't let it fully retract).

Sometimes 'locks' while driving also, making it hard for the passenger to reach things (like glove box, etc.).

I have had the same problem on two seat belt retractors. Had the CT into the service center recently and they ordered two retractors under warranty. They did not stock them at the SC.

It's supposed to only lock when there's fast extension or excess acceleration in some direction, and then only for a moment.

Definitely report it if it's being too touchy!

Is it going into ratchet mode or just staying locked in pose? The former is supposed to not be momentary, but the latter is.

The seat belt locks up and has to be unbuckled, fully retracted, and re-buckled.

Ours is in the shop right now waiting for the 'parts' for the seatbelt (should be tomorrow they said), we took it in because one of the window buttons came off (and for seatbelt on passenger side)...
