I’ve had my dual motor AWD Cybertruck since May 5th & my second reservation just popped up via email. I am incredibly tempted to trade in my AWD & get the Beast. I need to either be talked off the ledge or convinced cause I’m on the fence.
I absolutely love my AWD & went with it initially cause I thought I would prefer the range to the acceleration & towing capacity. However I drove to Las Vegas from SoCal in chill mode & still didn't get the full 340 estimated mileage. So, since I’m not getting the range I envisioned, I'm considering swapping for the speed.
Any and all insights are welcome.

340 range I believe is for the model with all season tires not ATV tires as well as an 80/20 mix of city/highway where regen can provide a bit more milage. If I was in your position, I might hold off for the non-FS series beast with your reservation. By that time, you might get a better battery pack as well as some additional upgraded components. FWIW I ordered a second CT about 10 months ago just to get into line much deeper down should when that once gets call up perhaps I would want to replace my existing for the reasons I mentioned above. They actually sent me an order invite for it just last week but I am not interested in the FS version for this one so I will continue to wait in line for that one.

I agree with above, since you have one. Hold off until on FS beast, save 20k. And thanks for making me feel better about decision to get the CB, I’ve regretted not getting the plaid when I got my Model S, and didn’t want to make the same mistake again.

I went with the beast, havnt gotten it yet so I’m excited for when the day finally come. Seen lots of posts about how the awd is plenty fast enough and if your a grandpa driving it prolly is. But There’s nothing like mashing it on a green and smoking whatever is next to me in my M3P, for that reason I’m sure I’ll love the beast just so. As for the range extender, maybe someday. Will see, that bed space is precious to me but can always pull a trailer if needed so I’m on the fence with that.

Wouldn’t trade you awd to Tesla, sell it on private market so you don’t get low balled but being used you will take a hit either way if you choose that route.

Good luck Tesla brother from another mother.

I was in the same boat, OP.

Have an FS AWD delivered on 05/30 that I absolutely love. Then got an invite on my second reveal day reservation last week. Started thinking “Hmm, get a FS CB and sell the AWD?”

I didn’t configure the CB on the first invite because: I didn’t want to wait anymore; I’m not the “0-60” type; I drive defensively, don’t drag race at lights, etc and; I couldn’t see the ‘value’ for the extra $20k (1.2 sec quicker 0-60, Alcantara dash, light bar).

I put value in quotes because OF COURSE value is in the eye of the beholder (which is why we have a “Skippers Club” thread and a “CB Waiting Room” thread, haha!!).

Finally put it out of my mind and went back to loving my AWD.

Something to consider OP: Now that they’ve opened FS to non-reservation holders (with the same estimated delivery windows as reservation holders) the value of your used FS AWD just took a huge hit. Why would someone pay you anywhere near what you paid when they can pay that to Tesla for a brand new FS CT and have it in a month or so?? So of course that “loss” gets added to the CB up-charge.

My $0.02 and worth exactly that, haha!!

Folks might be surprised once FSD is fully fleshed out and the price for the feature doubles (or triples). This could in fact raise the value of a used FDS enabled Tesla.

Same here. I have a 2019 MXP and the CT seems slow after that (0-60 in 3.5 sec vs. 4.1). I got a Plaid MX as a loaner vehicle when the CT was in service and that's when I learned I need that.

But the current Beast pricing is way too high for me, the monthly payment would be $2k+, which is more what I pay for my house including insurance and tax, so it's pretty hard to justify. I will probably wait for the non-FS version.

For trucks and SUV’s I usually take the “it’s a truck… I don’t need the performance spec trim on summer tires that isn’t practical.” The cyberbeast is something else. Shouldn’t take a bath on your AWD but one shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to purchase the quickest production truck ever made that does it on all terrain tires right out of the factory. It’s a ridiculous total package if the budget permits.
