Service appoint for windshield seal?!!

In the next week I have a service appointment for the seal that’s pealing off the windshield. This is my first time using Tesla service and can’t figure out if I’m supposed to pack a lunch or what. The service center is a hour away from me. I hope I get a loaner vehicle and I really hope they don’t try charging me for this. The issue is very minor in the big picture.

In Pensacola they have a specific day their glass guy comes. Assuming the glass needs pulled to reset the seal, they should also have a backup glass in case it breaks removing it. Think it was a Wednesday. They had my M3P for about 4 hours. At first they offered an Uber credit to get me off the property, like you I’m over an hour from home, they then offered a loaner.

This is FAR from a given.

And fixing a gasket is probably a 10 minute process.

I didn't get a loaner and had to go fina a rental car for them to fix factory defects on a brand new 2023 Model X. They dgaf. And I am 2 hours away

Nobody picks up at Tesla. I need to confirm this is covered under warranty!

I'm almost entirely sure this would be covered by warranty. Tesla is usually decent at covering things that would reasonably considered under warranty and a seal that's supposed to be fit at the factory would fall under that category. and, they seem to be going out of their way to accommodate FS CT and prioritize issues.

you can pack a lunch but insist politely on a loaner if they give any pushback. Yeah the seal should be a quick fix but if it's like any other Tesla service, unless they have the part on hand (unlikely for CT parts) they'll order it and replace it when it arrives. so I would bet it's not an in and out same day thing

I must live in Bizzaro World. People getting MX loaners on here... meanwhile I get this notice before I go in for service.

It all depends on the Service Center, the service that you are having, the number of loaners the Service Center has available and the number that are currently on loan.
And how nice you are to the Service Advisor!

the service center experience was pretty good. They re-sealed both pieces of rubber trim. Took a couple hours and a got a model Y in the mean time.

I’m pretty sure the rubber seals are for wind noise/aero.

SC is saying that won’t fix this. They have to move that fender up so that part sits flush. They’re just being straight up lazy. Shameful.
