Anyone have their roof just break for no reason. ?? Got in car and heard the crack and it spiderwebbed. Warranty or no. ?

My CT windshield was delaminating on arrival, I've posted that here in the forum - it grew and Tesla replaced the windshield under warranty. It was not a crack - but was the layer between the glass coming apart - looked like mold spread.

The fracture pattern is clearly a stress crack migration originating from the edge. This is clearly NOT an impact / point contact fracture. Here is synopsis from a Glass consulting firm.

BTY: Cybertruck windshield glass is more like High-rise laminated glass and not typical automotive windshield glass.

How about using an aftermarket roof, have a nice chat with the manufacturer of the Aptera’s solar panels.
That would be Aptera, who hold those patents.

They've gotten one buyer putting them on RV trailers, another buyer would be welcome, I'm sure. A startup making retrofit packages for EVs might be able to survive...

... Aptera ...
Forgot about it when I've seen it on TV last week.

I made a deposit more than a decade ago but they refunded to my credit card because it didn't fly. Looks like they're gonna do it again. Not sure I put in a deposit for this type or not.

Go check at Aptera referral and find out!

They've gotten a target number to be delivered next year and enough funding and parts in the pipeline for a few hundred. Hopefully that'll be enough to get the factory staffed so I can get one!

Reminds me of the pain I went through for Window cracks like this one with the SC. Best of luck. Here is my case: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/thr...indshield-and-next-steps.228213/#post-5559786

A related blog someone knowledgeable about stress fractures had some interesting comments:

This looks like thermal fracturing in laminate glass

I manufacture skylights in the Uk and we have to use heat tempered laminated glass to overcome the differential pattern of hot and cold areas some in shade some in sun light

As the glass heats or cools fractures can start from tiny shells on the edge of the glass

It looks to me to be a-quality control issue in the supply chain

This happened on my CT a few months ago. I posted a thread about it on this forum. You could see the crack grow over a period of about 6 hours on my home camera. Tesla did a thorough inspection looking for an impact point but couldn't find one. They replaced it but it did take them over a month to get the glass in stock.
