My wife has already said she will never buy a car that doesn’t drive her everywhere..
Funny contrast as my wife refuses to let a car drive her anywhere and swears she never will...

Crazy contrast! I have had mine drive hours through the mountains and back with Mary and intervention.. people riding were blown away. Driving now is something fun to do, but not necessary. My wife loves to be able to chat with friends on trips and not have to be so focused on the road

I agree their chances are slim but they got my $50. If they survive we are going to see some really creative builds. For $20K I'm a lot less concerned about voiding the warranty. Hopefully the optional touchscreen will be Open Source with well documented APIs.

Crazy contrast!
It is! I love and appreciate its technology (like your wife), but as soon as my wife sees the steering wheel move on it's own, she's like NOPE! and grabs it and it immediately disengages. She refuses to even give it any more chances...

People are just different...

Dump her, I’m sure it’s been a good run.

Just kidding of course… but do try to convert her to the ways of the future lol

According to this video on the front page of this thread, the average price is $50K...?
I think you're misinterpreting the video (which, to be fair, isn't as clear as it could be).

At 1:20, her exact words are:
... the average vehicle costs $50,000, but the SLATE is under $20,000 after incentives ...
When she says "the average vehicle costs $50,000", she means the average price for all new vehicles sold in America (including Fords, Chevys, Toyotas, Teslas, BMWs, etc.). And that's about right, because in December 2024, the Average Transaction Price for a new vehicle in the US was $49,740.

In other words, the point she is trying to make is that Americans pay, on average, about $50,000 for a brand new vehicle -- but the Slate will be much cheaper.

If anybody sees an image with a hitch will you let me know please. I can't seem to find one. I know the capacity, but handy to have for bikes etc.

Not seeing it either. Given the capacity, I wouldn't be surprised if there is just a hole in the bumper for attaching a trailer ball.

OH, could be. I thought she meant the average SLATE when people actually modifiy it for what they want...

Nobody is going with just the base unless they are just flat broke...

This Shit box is awesome. Reminds me of the Chevy Luv. Totally customisable. Pre ordered 2. Cancelled my 2 cybers because Elon the liar turned into an ass. Thinking of investing in the Company as well. Some folks just want mobility without the apps and extra charges that come with owning a vehicle.

You are a good sport. She will come around lol. We watched NFL Redzone on a Sunday driving back from a vacation in the freeway with it in FSD and an iPad on the CT dash.. so great

Boy I can't get away from post/news about this tiny truck. It's soooo hard to start a successful car company. Bezos better open that wallet or this will fail.
