I had a very petty client (executive chef at a very well known international establishment) who got into a spat with a neighbor, put elk urine all over their property, stuff stinks to high heaven and is hard to get rid of. If you think somebody stinks, this is definitely one way to let everybody know how you feel.

Folks, you have to understand that the law isn’t here to make people have good manners or good sense.

Somebody can roll their eyes at you and flip you the bird without being in violation of any law. We all have a visceral reaction to somebody spitting on us/our stuff, but not everything that needs to be remedied can be done by a lawbook.

I need people to understand this. At law, this is a property crime. It’s a trespass to chattel! You could spend as much money as you like taking this lady to court, suing her for trespass and be awarded $1 in damages. Which is the historical symbolic number to show that you were the best kind of right! Technically right! Today, maybe you actually get the cost of a car wash after spending ..: how much money and time?

Being an adult means exercising good rational judgment, even if those around you aren’t.

First concern was the best. I'd supply the sister with the videos and take the Y over there from now on. Who knows what somebody of that caliber is capable of and why stir up a hornets nest on somebody else's door step.

Lots of funny retaliation ideas but many that could be easier to legally act on...easier to claim damage from deflated tires or threats from posted warnings etc.

I agree that I would not leave my proposed note if you’re planning to follow it up with some unlawful behavior. Then you’re just setting yourself up for unnecessary drama/culpability for your own misdeeds.

This one is easy, wash the truck, let her know you know it was her, call her some names and move on. Everything changes if this is an unavoidable situation, and you’ll have to confront this person again. Those are not OP’s facts. He can de-escalate and move on, which is what he’s decided to do. That’s the right call. If it happens again, we reevaluate.

When somebody affronts you, you have a choice to make, and nobody can make it but you. She’s a dumbass and a nuisance. You can pretend that you are now afraid for your life and take whatever steps you think are warranted because of that irrational belief. But the legal system does not reward irrationality. FAFO goes both ways.
