Congrats on your Cybertruck! I hope it stays well protected under your care/watch.

There will always be someone creating content, these days in popular products/topics. I mean… Elon also had an engineer throw a ball at the Cybertruck window and then fired at the Cybertruck too.

Keep it up its just $1,900 to replace the windshield, it's for sure not unbreakable. There have already been 2 broken windshields that I have heard of in the sea of cyber news. Vandalism in San Fran when they jumped on it and from a Hailstorm in Austin, TX. I am sure those are not the first 2 windshields broken.

I am not the brightest person, but I try to live life with a smile, and I try to get others to smile too. Like I said, diversity in society is a good thing.

The good thing about car communities, is that they bring all kinds of people together. You’re probably a CEO, Entrepreneur, or an extremely success person… we have our differences. But I respect you for who you are. ??

Do you know the availability of the replacement? My bigger concern is if they are in stock when I need a replacement.

I wonder what service fees are too. Any idea on that?

I guess my only question is... Why, though? Clicks, attention? I may never understand humans....

The windshield flexes because it's nearly flat, but not quite. If it was completely flat it would flex in and out on the road while driving and that would be annoying. The slight curve gives it rigidity and some structure.

No this isn't the only windshield that can flex, just about any flat laminated glass does this. Tempered glass can't flex and is made to shatter relatively easily in most applications of it.
Because us humans yearn for excitement, emotion, thrill anything that gives us plenty of feel good hormones that our brains want..

Even if that thing is insanely stupid objectively lol.

I hope I don't need to find out anytime soon but according to the service manual it's rather complicated. $1,900 is the OEM windshield part only before taxes & labor. In comparison I seen forums replacing the Rivian windshield which the OEM part cost around $1,300 but after install, total cost reaching up to $3,700+ final price.

I'm expecting the final cost to replace the windshield on the CT could be around $3,500-$4,500 ballpark? I would not expect it to have a quick turnaround as nobody is going to have extras laying around in any service center, but they are being produced quickly and I don't see why the Tesla Factory would not be able to pull one from the line and ship in out within a few weeks, with expedited shipping cost location dependent.

I did see someone post a $2K quote received to replace the roof glass which is actually cheaper than I expect.

I won't lie, it would be good content if you can break yours by jumping up & down on it then document the process, timeline & cost to have it replaced. I honestly would like to know.

Good insight! Thanks! I don’t make enough money on social media to risk breaking the windshield to make content for a chance at going viral. Maybe if I get a sponsor to take the risk with me… but that’s not currently in the pipeline :)

We will find out when my windshield eventually does break. But seeing how people skateboarded off the windshield, I am pretty confident as long as I am careful and distribute my weight accordingly, it’ll be okay. ?

Glass can be non-intuitive as to when it breaks and when it doesn't.

Since you have said you don't want to break it, I would caution against walking on it with shoes on, since the tread can pick up stones. One thing glass hates is a sharp stone point.

I’ll talk to the photographer.

There’s a story (urban legend?) about a guy who worked in a high-rise, and would regularly throw himself against a window to show how safe it was.

…Until it wasn’t. He probably shouldn’t have picked the same window every time.

I’d suggest demonstrating Cybertruck toughness by hitting the door with a hammer.
And his name?

Albert Einstein.

Unfortunately this is no urban legend. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Garry_Hoy
