I've had my truck now for 2 days shy of 1 month. There is a lot I love about the car but the one thing I definitely do not like is the windshield wiper!

Part of that is understanding what its supposed to do and what it isn't. Disclaimer, I'm a detailed oriented guy so I notice most things that "normal" folks wouldn't or wouldn't care about.

Some things I've discovered through observation:
- At 30mph+ the wiper moves to the right (Driver's seat POV)
- When wiping the car at standstill or below 30mph, the wiper seems to move all the way back to its "locked" vertical position
- When wiping 30mph+ the wiper does not move back all the way to the vertical position
- Going from 30mph+ to below 30mph, the wiper does not move back to its left most position
- At 75-80mph, I see some movement/vibration from the tip of the wiper blade.

Wiper blade alignment -- I've already taking the car into service to have them adjust the wiper blade aligned since when I got it from delivery, the resting position was too far to the right. However, even after the alignment adjustment they did, I still have to manually move the wiperblade over to the left (going over 30mph, the blade does not move back left afterwards). I've also noticed that when wiping, the blade does not consistently move back to a set location. Sometimes it moves back more left, sometimes it moves back more right. Is this normal?

I drove up to Lake Tahoe earlier this week during rain and it just wasn't super pleasant dealing with the wiper. What I did notice though is putting the wiper in mode II was the best even in light sprinkling rain so the blade is more or less moving all the time so you don't get the long pause at the bottom of the windshield.

I'm going to schedule another appointment but would love to know if other folks know what the wiper is "supposed to be doing" or if there is some place I could read about the proper/expected behavior of this thing!

Attached two images - you can see the different landing positions of the wiper. And clearly it is too far right to where you can see it from the driver's position.

Firstly welcome to the club. Secondly the wiper is the absolute worst thing about the truck. I've had the same resting position issues and it was creating wind noise so the service department confirmed this and adjusted it. It will still sometimes move to the right a bit and eventually reset to correct position out of sight. My biggest issue is how awful it streaks since I've purchased it. Maybe there is some surface contamination from factory after the trucks have been sitting on the lots, but regardless it is borderline unacceptable until I have time to do a proper clean. I say take it back again if you have to.

This is an aero advantage move. Here’s from a log showing that it moves from 10° to 14° at 29MPH:

Have them adjust that wiper to 90 degrees, had them adjust twice because my PTSD was bothering me so bad seeing the wiper at that angle.

Now I cant see my wiper at all, even when its doing its small movements at highway speeds..

Yes, at 29/30mph+, the wiper shifts 2-3 degrees for aero efficiency. Totally normal.

That said, if the wiper motor is ever replaced, there's a very specific way to reinstall the motor so that the wiper is aligned correctly (check the service manual and you'll see the specific steps). The service center messed it up on mine back in February, and the aero position was at least 1 inch into the windshield / driver view from the 'black' part of the windshield. I only mention this in the small chance that the motor wasn't calibrated properly.

Ever since they replaced my wiper motor a 2nd time (long story), I sometimes get a whistling sound depending on how the wind is hitting the windshield. It's not very loud but noticeable if the radio is off. I've been meaning to mention this to the SC but I doubt they'll even know what to do (or if they'll do anything since I can't reproduce it every time).

Does the wiper move back to resting position when you go below 30mph for you guys? For me, I've never seen it move back to the original resting position if you go over 30mph.

Wow- Really? What is the word - anal? This is a unique design with many differences from a regular car. If you are really that detail oriented a Lexus SUV is a better car for you. They have reimagined everything about this car and in fact it is still being engineered and refined. Like FSD - requires some patience. We are all helping to iteratively perfect this system- and even the wiper is a unique design — but clearly one fewer motor and more aerodynamic.

would like a heads up display - but otherwise no complaints in my beast after 15,000 miles..

At the lowest wiper speed (or a single wipe from the squircle button) the arm is designed to pause in the horizontal position to allow water trapped underneath to exit out the sides. It should return to vertical after about 30 seconds.

As others have noted, it’s normal for the parked arm to wiggle at speed for aero purposes. But, it should stay out of line-of-sight. The procedure for adjustment is straightforward, I’m surprised it wasn’t remedied.

I’ve found that a deep cleaning and hydrophobic coating improves wiper performance substantially.

I don’t think so. Think it moves back after I park.
