I do you one better, replace Premium Connectivity on CyberTruck with that and they got a deal!
I've been really hoping to see chatter of terminals built into Tesla vehicles here soon; I'm 99.9999% sure they have been working on it for quite some time. It's only a matter of time before the large conglom-o carriers also get in on the extortion attempts with Tesla, so by default they will be needing to expand their capability very soon.

The 500Kbps (half a megabit) speed of standby mode is 62.5KB/sec - generally slow, but still 4x faster than the ISDN lines we had in the early 90's, and basically 1/3 of a T1 line. Very easily enough for streaming audio and basic communications. More than enough if you need to SSH to something, too.

And for unlimited data (albeit “slow” by today’s standards) it is a crazy good deal, IMHO.

I got that email, too. I'm not a regular Starlink user, but I have bought a Mini dish when it was cheap. I have the service paused. What happens if my subscription is going to be cancelled and I'd eventually like to use the dish? Can I just re-subscribe like a new subscription?

Would standby mode be sufficient to run a Ring camera and nest thermostat I wonder?

Pay way too much for internet at a cabin just for that reason in the off-season..
I have a remote cabin and spotty cell service, got a Verizon 5g hotspot for cheap to run the Ring and thermostats (requires a bit of chicanery but worth the effort for my uses and streams media to boot.) For 10 bucks a month T-mobile has an eSim service that uses Starlink. I have been thinking of getting one of those in a phone and hot-spotting it for Ring and the thermostat. No new equipment, just not sure of feasibility.

I moved my $50/$50GB monthly service plan to $10/10GB.
