Supercharger Tampered with During Charging

While I was charging, I went to the nearby grocery store. When I cam out all of the cable to the stalls were pulled out and lying on the ground at a 45 degree across the stall. I put some back as a drizzle was projected.

After charging, I unplugged and went inside the truck and I got a notification warning that my my tailgate was open. Apparently the vandal open my tailgate. It was closed when I left to the store, no notification on app.

I was under the impression that locking the vehicle during charge also locked the tailgate. I cannot understand why the tailgate is unlocked during charging.

This is a serious error on the locking function.

How did you not see an open tailgate when hanging up the charge cable? Might you gave accidentally hit the release button on the rear of the truck?
Could also check sentry since the rear camera would definitely indicate if it was open.
Should also have gotten phone notification that it was open.

Sentry mode should be able to tell you visually if the tailgate was opened by someone else however in my experience, the tailgate should be locked once you walk away unless you unlocked the vehicle from the app.

I know first hand both tailgate and cover lock while charging. I charge the truck at work and there’s been a few times I go put packages in the back and realize I forgot my phone.. you not getting in there unless you unlock it with your phone or key lol

I went from driver's side, unplugged, and put up the connector. The truck has to be on the far right of the charger pedestal for the cord to reach at this location. Not in middle. I never looked left, very close to pedestal. And I came from in front to the driver's seat back from the store.

Nowhere does it say the tailgate locks, except for "after 5mph." Once I tried to open the tailgate during charging and it would not let me.

I get spurious cover not closed fully errors all the time.

Hence the post. Hope it never happens to you.

Do you ever get vehicle left unlocked or door left open notifications (has to be enabled in the Locks page in the vehicle and on the app) after walking away? Might be an issue with a sensor keeping the truck unlocked or the truck not sensing your phone signal as you’re walking away (so it won’t lock).

Seems unrelated, but I’d try running the tonneau calibration sequence in the service menu for the spurious cover indications.

I think some people have said that they had the truck not lock when they walked away. Could that have happened?
