I ended up going to the Tesla Service Center and got the change made within 5 minutes. This after weeks of calling and messaging with no reply…..

Question for someone. I've read that you only get a VIN assigned as the CT is loaded on the transport. Is this true? Or, can the VIN be assigned while transport is being assigned. Jacksonville, Fl. is about 1,000 miles from Austin. If the first scenario is correct, that would mean the CT is on the road (as my VIN was assigned yesterday) and would make it to Jacksonville this weekend. Allowing for a few days (to a week) of prep, this would mean that I might have mine by next weekend. If the second scenario is true, the CT might be sitting in a lot at the Giga Factory for an indefinate period of time while they wait for enough model Y's and CT's to be delivered to Jacksonville.

It's easier if you call your local showroom directly or visit in person. If you call the 888 number it will eventually route you to your local showroom anyway to modify your order. I just modified mine based on the feedback of what's arrived most recently at the Mesa, AZ showroom. They told me it has been white with core wheel (all-season) configuration. I had tactical grey and updated to white based on that feedback. I will update if I get a VIN soon.
Update: Changed my order on Wednesday 7/3 from grey tactical to white (still kept the core wheel). Friday 7/5 received VIN and picking up my truck today Monday 7/8. If I had kept the grey tactical my delivery was projected to be in September.
