With the tailgate closed I find it simple to step on the bumper by the license plate and swing my leg over the tailgate to get in. Then I can open the gate if I need. I’ve debated getting a boat hook as someone suggested to the pull it closed, but so far storing that would be a pain. Usually I’m handing stuff out so I don’t have to put the tailgate down anyway. Easier than my old truck where I had to step on the wheel to get in and out.

My F-150 is a 4x4 model which is to say it's considerably taller than the RWD models. In other words, the Cybertruck is far easier to get in/out of than my F-150. And no, I've never owned a pickup truck that had a built-in step. That's probably why I can get in/out without issue. The body adapts to what you ask of it.

Call me old-fashioned, but needing a step to get in or out of a pickup is the beginning of the end (of your life). I hope I'm still getting in/out of my pickups without assistance when I'm 75.

This is a step away from saying we shouldn't have wheelchair ramps in public spaces. Different people have different needs, many of them are based on physical disabilities. The other companies realized this, i don't need to take a big step to feel more secure and alpha.

Are you allowed to step on the tailgate/put weight on it? I couldn't find a definitive answer online on the weight tolerance for that particular area.

Why do you need this? To get on the back, you turn around and sit on the tailgate. Then you spin on your butt. No need to do a push up. The only time you may need a ladder is when the CT is raised height… is that why you want it?

You misunderstood what I was saying. The subject was not about equipment for specific physical handicaps, it was about how to get in/out of the truck bed easier, while using less effort. if you are handicapped then the solution should be tailored to whatever your handicap is.

My perspective is one should use their body, to keep it working well, it has nothing to do with feeling more secure and more "Alpha", LOL, it's about enjoying using my body in different ways. Sure, I could go to a gym and work all the core muscles, leg muscles and arm muscles I use to climb in my truck bed, but I would rather do it all in one motion, climbing into my truck bed. Physical activity is good! I also don't like having unneeded accessories I have to set up simply to get in my truck.

I'm not sure how this turned into not believing in public access for people in wheelchairs, that's just a strange leap of logic. What I do know is the body adapts to how you use it. If you live or work on the 3rd floor and always take the elevator, sure, it's going to make your legs feel rubbery when the elevator is out of order. But if you use the stairs all the time, it will be easy. Climbing in/out of a truck is the same way. Your body adapts and strengthens, depending upon how you use it every day. If you always use devices to make every task as physically effortless as possible, then yes, you will find a lot of things difficult to do.

I'm a short guy, jumping in and out of the truck is a bit of hassle. Granted it is not an everyday thing, but for about 40 dollars, it's seems like a good solution. I found the following on eBay for how the tailgate is underneath the plastic - so seems to be easily doable. If I do it, I will post the process on the forum.

I installed this on an F250. You just need to be able to screw into steel.

Ultimately started to come apart. Was helpful up until then though it was mostly for the grandkids to get in. You still need something to grab onto as it is a ladder, not a step. The CT doesn't have a readily accessible hand hold per se - I have a ladder rack on the F250 so something to hold onto as I climbed this ladder.

I can see why you might want it. One shortcoming of the CT is ease of bed access. The person suggesting putting your butt on the tailgate is obviously taller than I am LOL
