I finally decided to pull the trigger and upgrade from a ‘20 MY.

One question that I had is with respect to inventory units; I am getting a new inventory, not a demo, and the build date was in June. Should there be any concerns with it sitting for the last two months? I presume there is a way for them to monitor the battery and keep it charged, as needed, but anything specifically that I should look for at pick up?

When I got the Y, the build date was within a week of delivery so this will be a new experience.

I am looking forward to being a part of the community!

Tesla's fleet software keeps them updated in realtime to make sure the packs don't drain too far, plus they go into a deep sleep at a certain low %, so you should be just fine.

There are several threads on the forum for checklists for delivery, but on the whole you should definitely take a high quality, slow video of inside and out before leaving the lot. Just make sure you document everything that you may want to correct later. Pickup day isn't generally a good time to ask them to make any corrections though.

Have you test driven one yet?

Good advice from REM. I’m very excited for you. You’re about to see cars in a whole different way.
Congratulations.

Yes, I did a test drive for myself and another one to try to win over the boss but she is still not convinced 😂.

I do not plan on spending much time at the center; rather, when I get home I will look through everything and submit a service request to the extent necessary (hopefully it is not necessary). I was generally concerned with the battery as well as the 48v sitting for two months (I presume outside).

The 48v did not drain. It was charged by the high voltage system the entire time and as mentioned it’s very unlikely any harm came to the battery.
That said, make sure the range is as you expected and there are no error codes thrown your way.

I remember the day I picked up mine. It was my first electric car and when the sales assistant came out, I was expecting him to show me what to do. He just waited for me to try and turn it on, so I made a fool of myself and then I asked him. How do you put it in gear? I was afraid to drive out the parking lot and because of four wheel steering almost took out a bank teller and a McDonald’s sign the end of the first week absolutely loved it. Congratulations the trick to really liking. It is home charging on a level two.

Welcome, to owning the best vehicle made!

I also came to the CT from a 2020 Model Y. Bought mine 9 months ago and so happy I got the CT (I was on the fence to wait for the refreshed / Juniper Y).

I wouldn't worry about getting a truck built in June. When we got our Ys back in 2020, the demand was high and volume production wasn't as high so it was normal to get a vehicle within 1 week of it being built.

As for delivery day, I'll keep it generic and just take your time looking over the truck with an eye for detail. Take pics of everything you want them to fix (after delivery). You have 48 hours or 500/1,000 miles to submit a service request with pics.

Mine was built Nov 15, 2024 (took delivery Dec 10), and vehicles back then were common to have a cut in the rear passenger door trim / B pillar area at or near the floor. Mine had it on the driver side and my delivery advisor told me the cause was bc the factory ships the trucks with the wheel covers in the back seat area and during shipping they got tossed around a bit and cut the trim. I submitted a service ticket and they replaced it, no questions asked.

The other item is some panels may not be perfectly aligned...however, I wouldn't bother with asking them to fix it unless it's egregious because sometimes it gets worse when they try to fix a panel gap or alignment. On mine, the only thing I have is the rear cantrails are slightly higher where it meets the rear quarter panel. I noted it in my service request but I told the SA I didn't care, and just wanted it documented.

@koolio when I picked up the MY, the exciting thing at that time was that they had just rolled out amber turn signals 😂 and were still offering the stealth performance mod. We have come a long way in just a few years.

FYI, if bought FSD on your Y and are transferring to the CT, just know that if you're trading it in to Tesla, you should be fine bc they know how to do the transfer when you take delivery. BUT if you're selling it privately or trading it to someone else (ie Carmax, etc.), make sure you don't trade the Y before you take delivery of the CT. You must actively be the owner of the Y during delivery in order for FSD to transfer. I read about someone who got screwed by this...and was why I asked my delivery advisor to confirm it transferred (he showed me his computer screen showing the transfer lol).

Congratulations! Nothing to worry about, just slightly different than other cars in terms of options. When I get mine as my first EV, the sales guy put the plate on, then about to leave. I stop him: “you have to show me how to drive”. No physical gears, everything is on screen. But, He did warn me it makes sharper turn because of 4-wheel steering.
Please kindly tell us what the the first few digits of the VIN, so we know how many CT have been built/sold, so far.

So far so good for me! I admittedly did not inspect the metal too closely as I am getting it wrapped anyways but the gaps all seemed to be reasonable. The only potential issue that I have found thus far is the wiper appears to not go to rest all the way to the left of the windshield, and I may have the missing panel in the tonneau cover.

Are you sure about the wiper? Know that the wiper moves 2-3 degrees inwards when driving 30+mph. It’s for aero efficiency. I think it won’t go back to the normal resting spot until you go into park.

The missing slat seems to be how Tesla is choosing to build them. They’ll add it if you want but know it’s just a cosmetic thing. It doesn’t cause water ingress in the bed (that would be the weather seal on the tonneau appliqué). To see what’s involved to add the slat, you can find the details in the service manual.
