All sorts of reasons.
  • imbeciles being lead by imbeciles
  • Intelligent people not being widely available
  • Imbeciles in HR not knowing how to recognize intelligence
  • Intelligent people getting promoted till they come to a position of imbecility
  • qualities other than intelligence being used as selective criteria
  • Intelligence in a sub area of job performance being used as a measure in spite of general imbecility in overall job functionality
  • Imbeciles in a group driving off intelligent people because they do not cooperate well
  • Intelligent people not having sufficient people skills to work effectively with others
  • Outside individuals being overly judgemental about what qualifies one as an imbecile

I don't think that we can truly comprehend how intelligent Dojo truly is, because we haven't been able to see it ourselves. It's truly a game changer in the race for FSD, and nobody else talks about having one to the degree Tesla has (and they keep it under tight wraps).

We now get a glimpse of it from watching the daily FSD beta videos and how fast the cars are learning, but just imagine that learning on a scale of 100's of thousands of cars per day! We get similar with today's iteration of FSD, buy not to the degree we'll see shortly.

What would be awesome is to see a clip of Dojo in action on the next Autonomy Day (hopefully we get one soon!). That would help make it more tangible to us normal-tons.

Waymo Suggests 'Orders Of Magnitude More Advanced' Than Tesla's Full Self-Driving Approach

Alphabet Inc's GOOGL 0.25%GOOG 0.16% Waymo is working on level 5 autonomous self-driving cars. The company currently has a robotaxi service that can take people from point A to point B with no human in the driver's seat. The technology is geofenced, meaning it only works and is only available in a pre-determined area, as of now, a small part of Phonix Arizona.

When asked if Waymo believed its autonomy strategy was "orders of magnitude more advanced" than the competition, implying Tesla Inc TSLA 1.29% and that company's full self-driving software solution, Waymo simply responded with "Yes." Now the word Tesla was never used, but based on the way the question was phrased, it's safe to assume the question was asking if Waymo believed it had a better self-driving approach than Tesla.

Benzinga's Take: No company has yet cracked full level 5 autonomy. Waymo uses HD Maps, which is a method that first scans and documents a route in great detail, which is then used to assist the self-driving car. Waymo then uses a combination of LIDAR, radar and cameras.

Tesla uses eight exterior cameras and radar, and its software has to determine the best decision to make on the fly. Elon Musk has said LIDAR is a fool's errand and believes it's not necessary for driverless cars.

While Waymo is currently only useable on a small number of cars, Tesla has thousands of vehicles on the road, all using its software. There is also a small set of users using a Full Self Driving Beta, which allows the cars to take drivers from point A to point B with zero interventions

They probably are an order of magnitude ahead of Tesla. But in the biz, that's just another nine on the end. Waymo's cars can remember routes and update their micro-mapping live; Tesla's FSD doesn't do that... Yet. Waymo doesn't do any passenger/driver tracking at all, either.
