do you notice a different range than tesla has claimed? Or other power issues?
No everything seems fine, speed performance, range ... I've done a couple of 20 hour road trips with no issues and expected behavior as well. It actually outperforms it's estimates on road trips I've found and I'm an 80-85 mph road tripper.

Are these for AWD or both models ? Is it front or rear motor? Our Beast got 420 w/mi over 2200 miles Utah trip including off roading. Equates to 306 miles actual 123kw full battery. Quite pleased as Tri motor and all terrain rated at 308.

I suppose the reasoning they're swapping it doesn't matter too much. But I find what Tesla is quoting as saying rather suspect. There's nothing stopping them from putting in the miles and studying their own motors. All of the earliest Cybertrucks went to former and current employees anyways. Why did they frame it like it was some random study?

Random studies are really the best way we know to get real-world data without unknown bias.

There still might be bias in the samples, there's just less likelihood of it.

Statistics!

The “select” motor replacements are based on lot and serial numbers of said motors needing replacement.
With various production runs, every component is tracked with which VIN it is assigned. This facilitates narrowing down to which specific vehoget the service.
It’s a typical practice in manufacturing.
some components are voluntarily replaced while others are required. Mostly depends on safety, and/or an “advertised” condition.

It looks like it’s just benchmarking, and who would complain about getting a more efficient motor? You can look at it as either a nuisance or providing real data to help make the product the best it can be. I take the latter myself and look at it as a working prototype I feel lucky to be a part of. Being an early adopter requires a bit of patience and fortitude, but the return is the looks on people faces when they see cybertruck. I’ve never driven any other vehicle where people have literally stopped while walking down the street to watch it go by and the genuine joy from kids when they see it. . Best truck I’ve ever owned so far

Took delivery of my CT on June 13th. Scheduled service for June 18th due to a vibration at highway speeds. It's still at the SC. They replaced the front drive unit once and it didn't resolve the issue. I'm waiting for another FDU to arrive. I was told it's a newer part revision. I know they have another CT at my SC with the same issue too. Also a few other folks on this forum have experienced it (see this thread). Might be related. VIN 9752.

So if you have an AWD, you have 2 of the same motors. I would want both changed. And if you have a beast (which I do), the back two motors are the only newly designed motors. I would want both changed. I'm not going in for a one motor change and them to study it. I don't trust the service center enough to not give me another issue to deal with.
