I agree. It’s incredibly frustrating. I too am on my second s92 and have paid for pro installation twice.
fwiw, my truck is an earlier 24 FS so I’m not sure if that’s the issue.
In the spirit of ranting self expression, you know who else really pisses me off in this equation? The various YouTube “artists” (you know who you are) who spend time in each video explaining how they don’t take kickbacks and are only trying to do you a favor by offering you a discount code.
In reality they are making bought and paid for recommendations to our community as puppets of the Chinese marketing machine. Some of them even go on to make comparison videos willfully promoting inferior products over more reliable ones. The audacity.
I get it, the only fault is with me for listening to them in the first place and following the advice, but I’d like to take a moment to call these guys out. When you rewatch the videos in hindsight you can tell the product problems exist in them and that there is an active effort to disguise it. I wouldn’t know to look for it if I didn’t know what the problem is that I’m looking for.
Don’t believe me? Now that you know what to expect friends, I suggest you rewatch the “review” videos and see what you think.
To all of you YouTube cybertruck “influencers”, screw you guys and the bullshit lies you tell repeatedly to our community to get some door sills or butt massagers or whatever else they send you. Prostitution is prostitution no matter the price, but the fact that you are doing this for virtually nothing is not a point of pride, it’s shameful.
You’re dishonest scum and karma is a bitch.

Wow - you are correct. I bought the S92 due to two of those promoters. Mark of the Cyberbeast is the worst at this type of promotion. He has now come out with a video explaining that he has some issues with the S92, but minimizes the problems and makes no apology for roping people into this thing.

I still feel like it is tough for the developers, and the time and language distance issues aren’t their fault, but it does diminish product attractiveness, especially when these things cost us valuable days in life for what was sold as an easy upgrade. The old adage applies here - fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Yet I keep taking the bait… and I second your rant.

Thanks for that. Technically I don’t NEED the validation, but it sure feels nice.
Felt pretty crazy after I wrote that and hit post.?

Ok, TesStudio reached out to me (after 3 months of my first email) asking for a video to show how things does not work. I left the cables in the car, so I thought it would be quick, just connect the wires and record it. It turned out that it works flawlessly! It no longer stops working in bright sunlight, no restarts, etc. Even without doing the software update on the mirror. First, I tried it with the mirrors just sitting on the dash, but it even kept working after I screwed it into its place.

I still have the "i" message about the sound system not working (it does), but I can live with that.

Not sure what happened. The only change in the truck was a few software updates on the truck.

I actually just decided to bite the bullet and install the S92 because I had it and I desperately wanted a rearview mirror. It took long than I expected and I ended up breaking the trim piece that is directly behind the passenger window because the connector got stuck behind there so I tried to take it off and ended up breaking it. All that said, (knock on wood) I have no errors, no cutting out (haven’t really had it sitting in the sun yet), and the quality is great. I just got mine recently which seems to be about a month after the Audio Error popped up so perhaps I got a new harness. ??‍♂ But so far so good. This really should have been standard but it’s a game changer.

I MAY HAVE A SOLUTION...this worked for me. I had the same problem as most of you with my S92 flickering and not seeing the rear camera.

After weeks of back and forth text messages with Tesstudio, they suggested that I lower the brightness in the mirror settings, and HOLY SH#T, it worked!!
I still get the "False" error message about the audio system and horn not working ..but at least the mirror is working...and I know it was the problem because when I turn up the brightness way up, everything starts to flash and flicker.

I hope this helps!

By the way, and I also agree about the YouTubers that promote these products..they should at least be truthful and warn us about these problems..I'm sure they know about it too.

Hi, just want to point out that I did a video for them and mentioned the error message and ultimately decided to take the video down. Glad someone agrees with me on this.

I tried it: my brightness was already pretty low (3/10 or something) and it rarely flickered. I moved up and it started flickering. I set it now to the lowest and will see. The brightness is actually pretty good on the lowest setting, too. Thanks for the tip.

Hasn’t happened to mine but I have read comments that suggest it’s temperature related.

Totally agree with hemiarch’s rage post. You’re not crazy. I only stumbled on this audio error issue by searching around here. I haven’t chosen to go the 3rd party route for rear view mirror for this reason. How can we as a community (caveat: I haven’t yet even received my CT yet) ask/request/demand that Franz and Elon come up with a Tesla OEM solution that enables top of tonneau camera view, and/or the ability to mount a 3rd cam to be mounted at the top of a capstyle roof rack, so that you can still tow something. With a cap rack installed.
