That hiatus camper is way cool. Love it. Do you know if they have any plans for a Cybertruck version?
I do very much like your setup. Impressive engineering to make it work. Well done. I was only asking about cost because I’m not sure what I paid for my cybertent was reasonable. Had a pretty good Tesla tax attached to it.
Also, I don’t think the CTent is too outlandish at all. Retail on my tent was $1800.00. Probably $2000 with the winter pack. Then $500 for the parts.

Hurry up. Dungeness season is almost over. We hauled in a killing last time we were up there. Needed all four licenses in the boat and two people to meet us on the beach just to hold on to about half of our “keepers” for multiple consecutive days. We cooked, cleaned, shelled and froze so many crabs it was outrageous.
you can never have enough though you know?

All in it was about 1k.

To each their own. You do you. I didn’t do it for money, but once I was building it it is fun to try to build it cheap for sure. My tent is overall much faster and less fuss. Cross bars come out in the time it takes to loosen the bolts on the L- track and brackets. I use a drill. What? 5 minutes maybe. Hardly permanent. The Aeroflap, silnylon, and elaborate time consuming setup and takedown of the CTent is a no go for me. I can deploy my tent once mounted in the bed in less than a minute. Same to fold it up and stow it. Speed at the campsite is my important metric. CTent is lighter. 70 pounds to 95.

Once someone makes a hard sided topper like hiatus https://hiatuscampers.com/ or a similar top for the Cybertruckco/Urander rack(s) then that wins. Until then, a tent is a tent is a tent. The Thule is 260g poly-cotton blend, reinforced with 600D ripstop polyester. Oxford Cloth. With a separate 420D silnylon rain fly. The CTent is 420D silnylon. My tent has a winter quilted liner as well. True four season tent. I already used it in 13 degree F conditions with a simple under desk panel heater. Slept with a light Patagonia Nano-Puff blanket. I was too warm and had to turn down the heater. Also in 98 degree temps with my little bouge rv ac. Dark, cool, and cozy. I like to sleep in. A silnylon tent simply won’t perform like that. Silnylon is hot in summer and cold in winter.

If I were going current RTT on a rack I would go FreeSpiritRecreation Explorer XL—or other FSR RTT. Excited to see the new Urander tent with removable floor, but FSR uses quilted wall material. To me quilting is absolutely necessary without the best option of a hard side. Hopefully the Urander tent will have a quilted liner. If it were hard sided I would buy it day one.
FWIW - I just sold my Gen1 Urander Bed Rack .
Didn’t care foe the wind noise and Range Hit.
I’m going to experiment with your idea and some 8020 extrusion on drop brackets tied into the L Track. The Front Runner RTT looks like the best current production RTT as a candidate.

This inflatable RTT looks like a potential option. Only 99lbs and 10” tall when folded.
Do you think it’ll fit on those lowered L track Cross bars you fabbed up?

Stating the obvious here but there are several cybertents in my area for sale for less than Tesla wants for them.
what’s everyone’s beef with this solution?

For me the Base Camp is not a quick deployment solution that I’m accustomed to having used a Roofnest clamshell RTT for many years. I like to “run and gun”. I may set up for one night then break down and relocate the next day. Have you seen the set up process on the Base Camp? Too cumbersome imo.

Seen it? Doc owns one. My set up works for me. He likes his. It’s all trade-offs.

I find the cybertent fiddly, time consuming and an unacceptable encumbrance of bedspace. I don’t ever want a tent that needs to be inflated. It’s 100% going to get punctured. We’ve seen it here with folks having bladders that needed to be replaced. I’ve been camping too many times with friends with inflatable shit that won’t inflate because of one problem or another. Hard NO.

People that want something in the bed are putting a premium on not having a range hit. I haven’t even tried to precisely calculate the amount of range that I’m losing because of my RTT. It just doesn’t matter. What I needed was 500 miles of range. 280 versus 310 doesn’t move the needle in any meaningful way for it to matter to me. I’m still short of where I need to be and I can’t get to certain places that I want to go still (350 of actual miles is about the minimum to meet my requirements -irrespective of windage, temperature or configuration 😒).

So, I prioritize what the vehicle can actually do for me. It’s a great truck for moving shit around in town and for that I need full access to the bed. I can go to local campsites or locations and if I really want to go somewhere at a distance I have to take the FJ still.

I have one. I see your point but with my standup paddle board pump which has supplanted the silly manual pump from Tesla and some experience, the setup is actually very very fast. Unfold, hook up pump, and eventually buckle two buckles.
even the aeroflap bit at the beginning takes seconds with the quick release now that I know how to not fumble with it.
What’s more, most of that setup time happens autonomously with the pump so I’m typically doing a couple of other unpacking things while it happens.
The inflatable thing has not been an issue for me yet over about two years of use.
everyone loves to hate this thing, I get it, but it’s actually well engineered and thought out.
Recommend taking one out and making your own judgment before you let YouTube videos determine your next project.
I don’t mean that to be offensive, I only mean to say that the vast majority of people with opinions on this thing have never used it in the real world.

Im actually seriously considering Cybertent, i was debating Mars back and forth but the more i see the Cyber tent up close and how integrated it is the more i want it based on its practicality. For me the range hit is not a killer but if i dont need a rack why have one just for a tent? Thats my eternal debate. What i love about the Mars Aero blade are the ducts for a Eco Flow 3 that are not in the Cybertent that is my only grip im trying to find a method for before purchasing.

Minor quibble. What I do is use the foam stencil thing that came with my wave 2 and zip it into one of the openings. Then I use that as ducting for my wave 3.
Works well and is still insect proof.
if that’s the only argument for getting a rack just to be able to carry a similarly sized tent, I’d say it’s not a hill worth dying on.

If you have images if your set up i would love it. Im leaning towards a Cybertent because of its integration and also because my truck is a jack of all trades truck and used for commuting and work so a RTT taking away from range may not be the best use case. Do you have images of how your routing the Eco Flow?
