We have a 2013 model s that has >175,000 miles. 265 miles range when new and 250 miles now. Charged to 80% for most of those miles, and half of those miles supercharging. If it makes you more comfortable to charge to 80% you’re likely not going to hurt much.
Just passing on my experience.
I decided to follow the Tesla recommendation and keep it plugged charging at 80% and leave the Sentry mode too while i am at it.

This is why I will never buy a used EV.
This same argument occurred when the Prius (hybrid) first came out (late 1990's). My family bought one of the first ones and it is still operating (more than 300+k miles over 25+ years) without any major mechanical issues and still on the original main battery (the small 12 v starter battery has been replaced at least twice).

These much larger battery packs in today's EV's are highly engineered with constraints (all environments, maximum life, range and charging efficiency ). Tesla is probably conservative on its stated expected life and is providing what it considers as optimal home and V2/3 charging through advanced time programming.

Folks tend to overthink and over worry about the battery because it is new and different for them. In fact simply following the rules that Tesla has provided (utilize the trip computer to optimize travel/charging, maintain up to 80% regularly but can go to 100% if needed for long trips or camping) everything is already optimized for you through Tesla's engineering and software.

Tesla Roadside Assistance will have you covered, you may have to wait 1hr or so depending of your location but they will get you.
Also AAA has been trained.

I've been driving Teslas since 2017, mostly on long trips (SF->LA, LA->Vegas), granted there are Superchargers just about anywhere here, but I've never come close to requiring a tow.
Sorry but those are not long trips. Took my 2015 S on a LOT of trips because Uncle Elon paid for the juice. NJ to PHX, NJ to DEN (twice), NJ to FL (about a dozen times), NJ to Dallas and lastly when 9 years old NJ to LA!

OP, you will get comfortable with range! :)
