I installed a rear camera in the vault to keep an eye on my dog when the vault is closed(don’t worry we have it heated and cooled, and she has way more room back there than she did in the back of the Model S). But before I got lights back there, the amount of light coming through that gap was incredible. It’s a huge gap when closed. Might be worth getting some old mud flaps, cutting them down and tucking them into the tailgate cover. Should be pretty easy, allow flex and still allow water to drain.

There is an "under the bed". It has the compressor and air tank... and maybe some rods?
there's no gap that leads to under the bed on my truck at least i haven noticed it. And any way if there is that's not the gap I'm talking about. I don't believe you went looking for gaps in the bed of you truck and didn't see the gap that's between the tailgate and bed floor. come on man you just trying to give me a hard time because you don't like the truth when its bad news and prefer to look at the world through rose color glasses.

Huh? I point out that there are additional gaps/holes in the bed to lose things. Making the situation worse than you described. Then you accuse me of trying to hide the truth and make things look better. Ok.

okay but did you not notice the gap that I'm talking about? I appreciate your contribution to the conversation, but you didn't start by saying that you found additional gaps to the one I'm talking about. you spoke as if you figured out where my rods went completely ignoring the gap in question here. also, not sure if you caught this part but I have the 3 storage bins and cargo divider making that whole section you're talking about irrelevant in my case. no way the rods can move beyond the divider towards the cab.

I do not have that gap at the tailgate for my truck, but only because I have a bed mat that fills it in. 0 gap. You should get one.

Or cover it with a tarp, problem solved.

yeah, I'm sure water can get out that's a crucial feature with this truck if you consider the large quantities of water that do get in even when the tonneau is closed the problem is that not only will water drain out but what also will is all of these things 1) welding filler rods 2) any type of loose aggregate like sand, dirt, decomposed granite, concrete, manure 3) coins 4) any flat sheets like important documents, files, photos newspapers, posters. 4) paper money 5) gold flakes 6) a 5gal bucket of detergent that fell over and now leaving a trail of slippery soap. 7) and I can think of a few more if you need me too. 8) fabrics tablecloth, curtains
My bed is dusty dry (and it's been raining here almost as much as not and my truck lives outside 24/7).

In other words, my Cybertruck bed doesn't leak water when the tonneau is closed. My F-150 with BakFlip tonneau does leak, all through the rainy season (it lives outside too). The gap is there for draining water while the tonneau is open and there is a torrential rain. It also drains water that seeps past the seal on the rear edge of the tonneau (the water runs down the tailgate and out that gap without getting the bed wet). It has to drain faster than it can fill with the tonneau open, even if the gap is partially blocked by cargo, tarps, etc. All trucks I've used are like this. It has a drain in the front of the bed too, in case it's parked pointing downhill.

I wouldn't have it any other way. Don't put loose jewelry, gold chains, linguini, spaghetti, etc, in the bed, put small or thin items in a box or a bag. On the other hand, the smuggler's bay under the bed is protected from rain even if the tonneau is open, so it can only fill with water if you leave the tonneau and the compartment lid open. It has a plug drain. With that installed, even your gold chains, diamond earrings and thin spaghetti pasta (and welding rods) will not escape.

oh, you don't huh? what do you call this post these words you say then? you're putting it all over my thread.
maybe you don't understand the concept of examples if you don't do manure for the lawn, then just substitute any other granular product or waste material with a grain size of 1/4" or smaller That you do do. I listed 8 categories each with a few more examples I said if those weren't enough for you, I can put up a few more. so, hares one more dry pet food especially bird feed.
next you're going to tell me you don't use or dispose of any granular products, right?
like it matters what you do this is not for your special cases this is for the general public and cyber truck owners. We all know your special now.

Thank you for that Hauling Ass
the best realistic unbiased comment on this thread so far
with an informative insightful and helpful contribution.
not pretending the gap don't exist
and Pops who has a possible solution for some.
I have a divider that does not fit even without the mat. so, i cannot put the mat in my bed and still use the divider they tried to fix the fitment issue twice and failed twice i bring it back to service center on the 7th and it looks like they will cut me a check so i can buy the new divider and well see if i can fit the mat after that.

If you never put a pile of sand in a truck before...
...And then I'd use a skip or a garden bag to keep it constrained. I know the vault top means you technically don't have to cover it, but putting a tarp down means easier clean out later. And you don't lose a bag or two sticking to the inside of the truck. Or clogging up the drains. Or spilling out the back...

When I was a child, we rebuild part of our house, and I remember having to clean up the concrete and aggregate that fell out the gaps in the trucks.

...not pretending the gap don't exist...
Who was that?
