To Yoke, or Not to Yoke, that is the question.

So back to the topic at hand, I appreciate the wheel characteristics of the stock steering device a lot off-road and also for low speed parking lot driving. My preference.
Not willing or give that up for a yoke.
Does your X have a yoke or wheel? I’ve gotten a loaner S and X and both had yokes. Didn’t care for them, but could see liking them much more with SBW. I think I’d still prefer the squircle though. Gives a bit more real estate above your hands. I never move my hands, but when turned to the extreme I loosen my grip and contact the squircle above my thumb, if that makes any sense.

I fucking hate yokes in those cars. That was a dealbreaker for my wife and I. We were willing to pay for a wheel as an option.
Don’t judge that car if you’ve ever only driven one with a yoke. You haven’t experienced it fully if that’s the case. They are a joy to drive with a wheel. Only improvement I would make short of STW is a front camera which they finally did in the latest latest iteration with the built in ambient lights.
STW is a it a bit of different story in the CT which is why I like the native steering device (I refuse to call it a squircle) but driving in general is muscle memory and a predictable shape makes more tactile sense to a simple brain like mine.
The yolk makes conventional power steering basically undriveable at lower speed and is downright dangerous in a parking lot where multisensory input is required.
Its basically fun for launch mode and maybe when you’re alone in the car on the freeway at high speed. I’d argue if you ordered your car this way by choice you don’t really like driving that much. Which is ok…it has the benefit of giving you a better view of your phone and the screen. But for driving, forget that yoke noise unless you have STW.

OEM is fine. IMHO, not worth $1,700 to cut the top section of the yoke out.
That's one of the things that held me back. but with 30% off and the core charge of $800 'at the time' my total was around $900 oop.

I agree. that's why i said it was useless in an X. But on a CT, talk about driving a spaceship! people gasp when they see it, and never want to "take it for a spin"

Especially after i "take em for a spin"
See if you can have the gun cutout glovebox dude make you one that holds a bottle of zofran. That way you can press a button on the screen and offer your passenger nausea reprieve. Classy.

I always loved those things. very theatrical. MIB etc.
You know Batman never had a wheel. except in the kids show. He always had a yoke.

Again…ultra cool looking … mad respect. Your CT is quite unique because of it. I may want that too when there is full autonomy, it’s just not for me right now.
The dude who listed that thread about stripping his steering bolt also spooked me a good bit.
