Good evening everyone. Taking a trip in July and I may need to tow an RV for approximately 300 miles x 2 days (600 miles total). I'm hoping to get some real world ideas on range. Probably in the 7,000 lb range with some gear in the bed, (generator, fuel, sleeping materials, and groceries). I'm sure someone has towed with a similar setup, what kind of real world range did you get.

About half, but it will vary depending on the aero profile of the trailer. I would expect you to get around 180 useable miles (10-90%). If you keep it under 70 I'm sure you can do better than that, I'm just not that patient lol

Shape matters more than weight. Temp, terrain and speed will also matter. So, if you can tell us what you’re towing and where, you can get a better estimate from folks.

I’m towing a considerably lighter trailer than what you’re planning (less than half) and I don’t consider my usable range for a full charge to be any more than about 120 to 160 miles - maximum.

I have about 3k miles of towing at this point. The type of trailer will impact depending on the aerodynamics. I would worry less about the realistic range and more about the furthest distance between your chargers, in terms of whether you need to be concerned. As long as you’re charging to 90-95% at the supercharger, you can expect to get 150 miles, maybe a little more. I wouldn't plan on 180 or more, though I did make it 204 one time, but my speed was in the low 50s and high 40s.

Speed is your determining factor, once you start going north of 55, ever single MPH makes a difference, so I suggest putting it on cruise control to help maintain the speed. Get used to people being annoyed that you're going a little slower than everyone else. I never exceed 65 (unless I know I have plenty of extra charge). Keeping it at 55 or 60.

I mean its a rectangular brick. LOL. But I’ve got several chargers spaced about 100 miles apart. As long as I can make that I’m not TOO worried unless you all say I should be. I need to test the generator and see what kind of kWh I can put in the pack. Where we are stopping the first night COULD put us in a pickle.

charge to 100% while towing AND continuing on the trip and you will be fine. When on camping trips, i love plugging the camper into the truck for power over night. I have two 100 amp/hr LiFe4PO batteries in the camper and would make it through the night but they will only run the AC for 2-3 hours. And I can run the electric water heater. All the comforts of home.

If you are spaced ~100 miles between chargers, you have ZERO to worry about if you keep your speed remotely in check. Seriously, don’t listen to the clickbait headlines that talk about 84 miles or whatever it was. It’s simply not true unless you’re driving 75-80mph.
