Anyone else find it strange that something like a turning radius is still being adjusted at this stage of production?
Not me personally. They always change stuff Ota

Power, features, safety.

Software controlled rear steering is still in the mix. I bet we see greater movement on the rear steering at some point.

You indicate that you have a Tesla. Should be second nature to you.

I didn't have rear seat heaters in my Model 3 when I got it. They appeared later. Hardware was there, software to control wasn't.

True. I've owned a Tesla since the beginning, one of first 2013 Model S P85s that came out.

I do agree Tesla puts out updates and changes things all the time. I guess when it came to Steer by Wire being such a new technology to the automotive world, and Tesla, something like a turning radius should be been finalized as a permanent design and specification a long time ago. This is much different than a seat heater as there will be additional geometry changes while the vehicle is moving, and some can argue it changes the safety profile of the vehicle in a way.

I'm just surprised this wasn't finalized after all these years. Then again, it's Tesla, they might be using duct tape to hold certain parts together for the earlier builds lol

I’m not an engineer but I imagine the capability of a 10 degree turn was finalized and already there, but software locked for whatever reason.

Even if it comes after delivery, it's over the air update. Real convenient like a firmware update.

The design was indeed finalized as permanent and specifications created. Just as my seat heaters were.

But unlike the need for a button to hit, I suspect that they are running through a lot of cases and numbers to be able to optimize the rear-wheel action. For example, I don't remember seeing that they are supporting both low speed crab and tight turning. At what speeds do you need to change the interaction? If you are going 60 mph, how much rear turn should you use? 45? 30?
It sounds to me that there are a LOT of use cases and they are probably working through a number of them.
