I hadn’t really noticed that, however you’re absolutely right! Underrated indeed! I have certainly noticed the graveyard on the front of the frunk needing lots of wipe downs.
Has anyone gotten really lazy and left bugs on there for an extended period of time? How’d the stainless hold up?
Funny you mentioned that. After cleaning off the bugs on the front of my CT after a 4000 mile round trip to Texas, I got the bizarre idea of putting a coat of Protectaclear JUST ON THE FRONT of the frunk... and let the layer of kamikaze bugs accumulate naturally without removal by me. Should be fun to see what happens. I plan to coat the rest of the truck with that 8 year ceramic by Pan the Organizer

I did a few long highway trips, and I’m stunned to see that basically zero bug get smashed on the windshield. It’s all happening on the frunk, so there’s no disturbance to visibility (and the front cam mounted in the windshield which stays clean and that’s obviously good for FSD). My beloved Jeep had the opposite problem. Had to do a full windshield cleanup at every gas

The unique aero profile brings some unique properties.

This is a brilliant observation. Now that you mention it I benefit from this a LOT.

I do the Austin-Houston bug smash run at least once a month. Windshield is free of bodies. I had a Jeep 4xe prior and yes, that windshield needed to go through the deluxe carwash at the end of every trip

Yep, same with my FJ. The CT windshield is so much nicer to deal with.
Bugs and rocks do way better on the CT
But the Jeep or FJ windshield will cost $300 where the CT is $1800 so I better get 5x the bug and rock smacks out of it :)

Spray the front of the frunk with PAM or another non stick cooking spray, they will wipe right off. Vegetable oil base and will not harm anything on the truck.

Every time I have to replace the FJ windshield they also had to replace the overhead trim piece. Stock was white and cost something like $150. I had a special edition with a metallic black top that they wanted $750 for a properly matched piece. I did that once, then went with the skunk look subsequently.

Also can confirm this pleasant “feature”. Just got back after a ~700 mile trip to Acadia National Park. A ton of bugs on the frunk but one or two on the windshield.

Some of those bugs are three dimensional on the frunk lol.

Plan to clean it off with Sprayway, so glad to hear it cleans up the tarnished from the bugs. It was drizzling rain one day and the water caused the bug guts to form streaks on the steel. lol
