It opens up completely then closes itself and locks. Same thing happens when using the app/screen console to open. If I grab the frunk while open I can prevent it from closing but as soon as I let go it will close itself.

Worked fine a few weeks ago. I don't open my frunk very often.

Anyone else having/seen this issue?

Other instances of 'ghost' actions on the forum were buttons or relays that stopped being water tight. Sounds like a warranty issue!

This is new to me. I've had instances where the frunk opens by itself but nothing like this.

Time to make a service appointment.
Created service appointment for next Tuesday (3/18). Will update after.

Looks like a load sensor calibration-maybe a calibration in the service menu?

Yea that’s not closing correctly. prolly not a good idea to attempt the finger / hotdog in the closing area either. Service will get you squared away.

I noticed that mine has reduced spring force after I worked on a hill, opened the trunk, and saw it almost come down on my head. Seems unrelated to your issue though.

Did you try to hit the button again as it is halfway up and see if it'll stop?

I wonder if doing the button hold to stop at a lower point, then resetting it to the max open height will give you any better results. Obviously warrants a service call, but in the meantime... give that a shot, I'd be interested in seeing if you get the same results at a lower opening height.

"To adjust the Cybertruck's tailgate opening height, manually raise or lower the tailgate to your desired position, then press and hold the button on the underside of the tailgate for three seconds until you hear a confirmation chime."

Mine has done this a few times, but it closes more slowly. I’ve only seen it happen when I’m parked on a steep decline.

I took mine in for service yesterday for the same reason. Got it back the same day, and the problem still persists. This is actually not a defect. It appears that all Cybertrucks when parked on a steep incline will automatically close the frunk immediately after opening. The loaner Cybertruck that I drove while mine was in Service exhibited the same exact problem. This is probably a software issue that could be easily corrected. I will bring it up with my service center. I have already notified them that the loaner had the same issue that my Cybertruck was in service for.

When I parked on level ground the Frunk worked fine. When my front end was lower than the back it would not work. When I put the CT in tent mode (to level it out) it worked. After mobile service replaced both hood struts the Frunk worked fine when front was lower or on hill. We tested it out while mobile service was still there. You should get SC to replace hood struts again.

Unfortunately, the problem will return as soon the new struts begin to lose gas. Even if they are fixed, the repair is very temporary. A software update is the only long term fix.
