I wasn’t a fan of a button to open the door. This is why.
the other models are precisely the same, except with a lever or a pull to trip a switch. This is just removing the lever from the equation. Zero tesla vehicles (excluding OG roadster, which I have not seen in person) have a way to mechanically unlatch the door from outside of the car. They could all have the same failure.

Mine is having the same issue. Going to service soon. Curious if it's a firmware issue though. Seems like there's something about the driver door in particular.

It gets more use, maybe some of them were parked with that side pointed south before a resin set, maybe people don't notice the other doors failing, maybe it's just random chance.

But those are more protected from the elements.

I suspect the driver door switch problem is a hardware issue. This switch gets used much more than the other doors.

I believe they replaced the switch, but I won't know until I get my truck back from the service center. They are currently working on an intermittent passive restraint alert. Currently scheduled to complete repair the second week of May.

WORKS IN THE MORNING?

I noticed that the driver door was more likely to work in the morning and less likely to work in the late afternoon. The only reasonable explanation I can come up with is ambient temperatures are lower in the morning and higher in the afternoon.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yeah, that sounds like a glue issue. Something isn't glued down right so as you have thermal expansion or less humidity it stops sensing.

Sounds like the controls on my older washer. The buttons only work some of the time,

Was your old washer Stainless Steel?

Can you open from the app?
You can unlock the truck from the app, but not open the driver and passenger doors, unlike the frunk which can be opened from the app.

Naw, but underneath the plastic buttons it uses an old style open air varistor keypad. Electrically, these are kind of a forerunner of today's electro capacitance buttons, since they're a doped silicone rubber they build up capacitance and stop giving the right reading, crossing with the neighboring buttons, Capacitance buttons are looking at even smaller amounts of current - the amount of change when you touch an object in different places - and can get fouled up when that object is misaligned or not firmly affixed.

I hope I explained that well, no one is truly happy when you try to explain things without pedantic details.

tl;dr: surface wriggles or gets wet and it stops reading the touch right.

Today the exterior driver door open button went from being intermittent to not working at all. I am now having to open the passenger door to operate the interior driver door open button then go around to get in the driver’s seat. (I’m too old to maneuver into the driver’s seat from the passenger seat.)
What was the final fix? Mine just did the same thing and my service appointment is 2 weeks out
