Thanks for the suggestion on the cheaper inflatable mattress. My son is six so that might be perfect for him and I can sleep in the Cybertent.
To be honest, dad is also a little sensitive to heat and humidity
The Havnby has been on my radar for quite some time, and I love the fact that it has a memory foam top. But they have yet to release a proper cyber truck version that has the cut out for the rear screen.
But honestly, given his age and the fact that he gets scared at night, we’ll probably both end up sleeping in the cyber tent, so I need to plan for that as the first line option. Which is why the initial question about the HVAC duct.
Thanks again, man. I really appreciate it.
Completely agree about that. Given the fact that my son is 6, I really want him to experience all the sounds and smells of nature so that it builds a hardcoded memory for him given that he’s still very neuroplastic. You’re most welcome. I made many mistakes and spent way too much money learning some of these things and if I can help anyone avoid them, it feels good.
The other cool thing about the cybertent or really any other rooftop or outside tent like the awesome ones @Urander make, is that it also makes the camping experience much more “campy”. Meaning you get to experience your surroundings to some extent. Wind, forest noises, water sounds, stars, true darkness and so forth. While I can sleep pretty comfortably on that back seat mattress I typically choose not to. My bed at home is way comfier and in there I can’t tell the difference if I’m parked at a supercharger, a loves truck stop, or the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
Not really what I go out there for.
Sure, you wake up where you went to sleep, but half the experience is sort of squandered in my opinion.
It feels artificial to have him sit and sleep inside the backseat unless of course, he gets scared by thunder and lightning, again, which would be again a secondary option.
I do like the inflatable mattress as a backup though for the second row.
Yeah, I’m not trying to burn money on a $400 inflatable mattress with a memory foam top if it doesn’t fit well.
I’ve been vacillating on the cyber tent since I got my original truck in September 2025.
But now I’m getting my buyback hopefully by October so I have to wait until I get that truck before I order the cyber tent anyway.
It will be perfect for fall camping trips here in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina.
