Vault Lighting while Driving

With the vault closed, the rear window SHOULD make for a convenient way for rear seat passengers to see into or monitor cargo or pets traveling in the vault. Except it doesn't because it's pitch black in the vault and Tesla has locked out vault lighting controls while driving. Supposedly due to traffic laws prohibiting white light to the rear while driving. Except when the vault is closed, this isn't an issue. How do I get control of vault lighting?

Plug a bright nightlight or shop light into one of the vault outlets, mount it along one of the rails and then turn on the power?
