I initially liked wedge; but I think it’s too easy for haters to turn that into “wedgy.” Personally, I’m going to go with “grip.” Strong, old school, not easily twisted for teasing.

Runner-up for me for all of them is “convoy.” But convoy already has a meaning and it hasn’t really become antiquated, in my opinion. It still describes the thing that it is a group of vehicles moving together but movement is implicit.
