Sure! I've not only tried WD-40, I've used it for decades.

It's fantastic for displacing water - on wet days try it on the spark plug wires and the inside and outside of a distributor cap with condensation and your engine will start right up. Spraying wet tools will prevent rust. A quick shot on any mechanism that's a bit sticky will free things up immediately - try it on a padlock that been exposed to the weather for years. I always keep a can on my tool shelf.

Wait.... Are you thinking about spraying it on the exterior of a Cybertruck? Yikes!

If it's good enough for Starship it's good enough for Cybertruck. ?‍♂

As l recall, WD40 was used by NASA on Friendship Vll when John Glenn circled the Earth. Good enough for John's Spaceship, then it's good enough for my CT SPACESHIP!

WD40 is fine on the CT, but not as a cleaner. If your goal is to protect the stainless, go for it! If your goal is to make it look clean, run the other way ?

Also, yes I've done it just prior to a wash as a preconditioning. I thought maybe it would help with fingerprints after the wash like a sort of SS wax. I was wrong, the soap to just remove it all in one go. Didn't hurt or help. But it certainly isn't going to make it shine

I've noticed WD40 is good at removing dirt and if you don't want the shiny look, after wiping it off it will still protect from finger prints.

It will! But it'll also gather dirt if it isn't washed off
