The rule is specifically designed to reduce people's ability to use the full credit amount. It does not prevent fraud, misuse, or any other nefarious actions by customers. So yes I feel it's only there to screw over the customers, even if they read a understood the rules, it still makes it harder to get the full value

It's not even needed for accounting purposes. The expiration date allows them to earmark the credit to a specific fiscal year.
If there's an issue with comprehension, sure ok it'll screw you over.

Well.... I didn't understand the details of the voucher program.

Picked up my truck last month and figured "hey I need a charger" so I logged on (in a hurry) and ordered the Gen 3 charger from Tesla's shop using the voucher. In my head I'm thinking "I'll come back for the rest of it later...."

Well as yall surely all know that's not how it works. Apparently I forfeited about 2 grand after buying the charger! I was absolutely shocked today when I went to check out with my cart.... I just assumed this worked like a normal gift card or credit.

Needless to say I'm mad at both myself for not reading the fine print and also a little peeved at the "system" implemented here....

Do yall think I'm doomed or is there any history of Tesla being understanding here? What department should I try to get in contact with? I'm a share holder who just bought a 100K+ truck... surly they'll be understanding here, right?!

i did the exact same thing. ordered a gen 3 charger. It was a stupid mistake on my part. It was plain as day in the letter but i didnt pay attention,

I made same mistake with a $100.00 gift card my son gave me for my birthday, I ordered a tee shirt, also thinking I could come back later to pick/order other items. No luck, when I checked out, I found out I just purchased a $100 Tee shirt. Sucks! I will never purchase another item in Tesla Shop.

If let's say 7% of the people only order something that costs a hundred. Rest of people use voucher to full amount.

That person that came up with this wacky idea made a huge return for Tesla. Or a gigantic headache when all the people call into complain. Re issue voucher. All costing more man hours. Plus the pissed off customer spending the time.

The accountants understand goodwill. Use it. Use the ledger. Move some crap around.

I will X my thoughts. I am sure I will get some hate, but those are likely people that don't own a Cybertruck.

Sucks for sure, but they could not have made the terms of use more obvious. It's in the copy of a very short email and also in the fine print.

Nothing to blame Tesla for here, this falls under "all user input is error".

I'm still waiting for my VIN number, but will pay close attention to how I use the voucher, when I take delivery.

While I recognize I made the mistake; I will say that it paints the company in a different light for me. I'll get over it no matter how it's resolved, but will always be on my guard dealing with Tesla moving forward.
