I'm near Vancouver. With the ridiculous price of new AWD now because of the tariffs ($140K CDN before tax ~ $101K USD), I started looking for a used CT. There 16 for sale in the whole country on Autotrader Canada, and the cheapest one is $110K CDN!What about a used car?
So I thought well lets look south then, seen them on Autotrader US for $57-60K USD which is ~$80K CDN. Sounds like it would be good savings right? WRONG.
I'd have to pay GST/PST at the border crossing of 10-15%, and then still get slapped with tariffs on top of that. And the big unknown that I can't find the answer to is will the taxes & tariffs be based on the converted USD price I pay the seller or the CDN black book value that is 37% higher?
Way to big of a risk to take, so I'm basically sitting here twiddling my thumbs while I wait for tariffs to go away and hopefully both new and used prices drop.
