Exactly, it's kinda an embarrassing addition to existing Tesla fan stereotypes. Hopefully no one from the outside world sees this thread.I have to say this question made me chuckle a bit. People who have lived their lives in places that don't require a front license plate must not register that other places do, which makes sense if it is not your experience so it is not on your radar.
That is 100% for sure for a front license plate.
While you can choose to leave it off in the states that require one, it gifts probable cause to the police to pull you over at any time they feel like it if you do leave it off, so as ugly as it is if you don't want the police to be able to target you on a whim then it is best to place one on your vehicle's front bumper.
Since manufacturers don't want to make a different bumper for different states, they do something that can be used in all states either way since that is simpler (in most cases).
