I noticed my front-facing camera, when parking, etc., located on the bumper, shows up partly fuzzy on the left side on my screen.
Lo and behold, the camera lens is cracked (assuming a rock hit it or something).

How important is this camera besides providing a view when parking? Does it affect FSD in any way?

Does anyone know how much it is to get the bumper camera replaced?

Currently, it is not utilized by FSD.

If you are off-roading it is very important, it is the only way to see in front of you at times.
For current Tesla FSD, security, etc it is not used, like @ThatGuyBo said.

I use it in my garage to gauge distance to wall. I have a front bull bar so it allows me stop before touching the wall. I wish my model Y had it.

Yeah, for when you need to see the ground as you crest an incline on a trail or forest road, the front camera is indispensable. It really is a huge help.

Are you sure about that? I have had plenty of scenarios in which I could not see past the corner of a building or other obstruction in a turn, but the truck surely could. and the 3 cameras in the windshield couldn't either.

Tesla stated it is not currently used for FSD. I am not finding an official statement but we do know it does not use the bumper camera.

One of the YouTubers tested this. They covered the bumper camera and FSD did not GAF.

Since the actual bumper is in the bumper cam you can get very close to the wall/curb/tree when parking head-in. I would not want to be without it. I’m finding that you can pull forward way more than you think once you show the bumper cam. Keeps your rear end from sticking out in a parking lot which could avoid a collision.

Cost wise, Tesla did a good job of making it an easy replacement (unlike Rivian, when you have to replace the entire trim assy around it):

How long ago though?
Chuck Cook did it for 13.2.4, he may have done one more recently. He also tested park assist with it covered and uncovered with no difference in performance.
DirtyTesla covered their front bumper camera two days ago with no issues.

And Dirty Tesla has older YouTube videos where he covered multiple camera on his Model Y and FSD continues to drive.
