What’s y’all’s response to HOW MUCH DID THAT COST

I know have saved this to "Favorites" in photos on my phone.
Not my picture but it definitely gets a laugh and makes them drop the subject. And of course I only show this when it is appropriate.

I do admit that my social battery is running low as I have had several people follow me into my work parking lot and that is a bit intrusive. On the other hand I had the CFO come find me last Friday and ask for a tour and offered to buy lunch when I told him "be happy to during my lunch hour sir." One of the best Jalapeno Double Cheeseburgers I have ever had.

Multiple times the first question asked by random people is how much did that cost? How do you guys respond to this. I’m trying to not come off as douchy or snoby. I’ve always driven old ass cars and this is a new world to me.

I usually tell them “A lot”, if they ask again then I ask them “How much do you have in the bank?” If they don’t have enough I tell them you can’t afford it. It’s rude to ask someone how much they have in the bank. It’s also rude to ask anyone how much they paid for anything. It’s not your business!
