What do we know about the range extender connector??

Since there will no longer be a range extender and our trucks presumably come with a place originally intended to plug it in, there are likely some ways to capitalize on that wasted effort.
Can anyone please school the community a little on what we’re working with?
Where is it? What does it connect to? What type of connector is it? What controls it and how? How many amps can go through it and at what voltage? Anything else interesting you have learned about it? What ideas do you have for what it potentially could be used for other than the Tesla range extender? Is a homebrew range extender actually a possibility?

As far as I know the only extra connector was a 4way-2populated one originally labeled for inductive charging. Same type as the HVAC compressor.
My guess was they were going to daisy chain the extender into a drive unit HV feed and the pack thermal loop.
Given Tesla's level of rationality checks, an add on would likely cause faults.

Fair point. How is this overcome with all those aftermarket v2l devices? I would have thought those would produce similar faults

Which devices?
The Powershare V2L uses the charge port and onboard inverter
Others take HVDC from the vehicle and have a separate inverter
You can build your own fast charger that uses batteries, but it won't charge while driving

It’s pretty interesting they are able to get DC output from the charge port like that.

Sounds to me like the “After Market” community is looking for ways to fill the void Tesla is leaving by canceling “Range Extender“. Look for a battery storage box that will fit neatly in rear of CT, coming to an Owner Club post near you.

I would start by checking online wiring diagrams, I would thing Tesla would have provided an extra plug to HV batterie, capped off for easy “plug & play” for SC installations of range extender option.
