What products are you using for "rusted" center wheels and how to prevent it'll happen again?

I'm still waiting for the covers but when get them I think I need to clean the wheels before put them on. What are your using to clean those rusted centers? Will I need to clean it again periodically after installing the covers?

I cleaned with bkf using wool pan cleaners (hubs). Subsequently neutralized with denatured alcohol, Used two coats of high temp clear coat. Clear coated the black on the rotors too. They look like new.

I had some rust inhibitor from WD-40 I slapped on with a rag right when I got it then threw some covers on from EVBASE.

Then I drove past Tesla this AM and see all those new trucks with caps on.

Don't worry about it. Seriously. My 1 year old F350 has it. My 2 year old F150 has it. My 3 year old Gladiator has it. Its super normal. Its surface rust and you are fighting an uphill battle because its just gonna come back. Some surface rust actually ends up protecting it in the long run. Just get some covers for it and know its normal on ALL vehicles.

I used a wire wheel brush on a drill. To scrape it clean, then used clear coat spray paint over the clean surface. 4 months, so far so good.

Every vehicle that you have ever owned or driven has done the exact same thing!

The best thing to do is nothing. It is designed to be like that.
