Why does my wife’s Tesla account/app not have a refer and earn tab?

She’s trying to send a referral code to friends and has the same products listed under hers that I do, but that refer and earn tab doesn’t exist in her app menu. Anyone know why?
Technically, I bought the vehicles and powerwall from Tesla and then shared them with her. Does this matter?
Anyone know how to fix this?

I suspect I have to transfer ownership of one of the cars to her or make it joint ownership somehow because under the program rules it says …”must be a current Tesla owner”. Anybody know how to do this? Is this an app thing or a DMV thing?

It’s an app thing. My parents have the same problem. They haven’t figured out how to have true “dual ownership” through the app. I’m not married, else I’d try to find a solution.

I imagine putting your life on the line every night and also promising half of yourself to someone for all eternity are tough things to reconcile.
Throw kids into that mix and your judgment can become pretty clouded/swayed in ways that might really slow that kind of career down.
Don’t mean to be insensitive. Just saying I can understand it.

Well, whatever’s going on, I’m doing the best I can. I’m considering leaving and getting into security for Tesla or SpaceX. That should both be more meaningful and less stressful.

Unsolicited advice here. I’m not immune to those kind of thoughts sometimes too. It’s the nature of our jobs. It may in fact be the right thing for you, I don’t know, but I do know there aren’t that many people who can truly replace you.
There are of course many that THINK they can, but that’s why turnover in our fields is significant despite the extended training and adjustment periods.
One of my mentors that passed this week so I’ve been thinking about him a lot told me something that really stuck with me a long time ago.
“Don’t make any decisions or say anything that’s hard to take back before you take a vacation and use every minute of your PTO.”
“No good decisions are born from being tired and distraught. “
This seems almost stupidly simplistic, but it’s incredible wisdom. So I’m going to echo those words here, no good decisions are born from being tired and distraught.

First, I must recognize that every thread you and I get into a back and forth convo in veers wildly off topic lol.

I hear ya, but my job feels like a waste of time for the most part. How often do you, personally, need police in your life? I’m guessing you haven’t ever. Maybe once if you’ve had the misfortune of having a car broken into or something.

My clientele are degenerate idiots who trade off going to jail one day and filing cases on the other degenerate idiot other days. Yeah, I’m tired and distraught.

But since you’re someone I’ve come to respect, I’ll take your advice before making any rash decisions.

Send your referral code to your wife and she can forward to said friend. Problem solved…

Yeah. But I already have my 10 referrals for the year so we would not get the $250 for that.
it’s an option.

☝This is the real answer. Less confusion.

But the full answer is yes, you can duel wield lol. by sharing each other's keys. You just have to make sure you sit down and show each other which alerts you want, and from which car. It can get confusing.

Tesla figured this out quite a while ago. Its the major reason you can give your vehicle a nickname.

Caution: make sure you pay attention to any promotions currently applied to your vehicle that may be stripped if you make a transfer!

Yes. We definitely get off topic but I think it’s usually for pretty meaningful conversation. I’m sure our fellow CTOC members would tell us to shut the fuck up if they minded it.
Tired and distraught is not a good place to be. Not for you, not for your department and not for your clientele. Why not plan a road trip out west in your CT or something? It’s a nice time of year to travel. Maybe starbase? I mean, who wouldn’t want to see that right now?
I understand your frustration more than you know, but I think you probably got into this because on a macro level you believe in social justice and the betterment of society through rule enforcement just like I got into my field because I believe everyone no matter how scummy they may seem deserves the best possible shot at living when they are hurt.
Individual cases or nights can feel pretty awful but at the end of the day I go to sleep feeling like I’m acting on that belief and therefore making the world a better place. So are you. You just need the strength not to let those people wear on you and take that dream away. Otherwise THEY win and the world is a worse place.
anyway…too much wax poetic. Take a break. Sometimes stopping to sharpen your saw ends up getting the tree cut down much faster.

So this is good advice. Both my cars have free supercharging. That would be a disaster.
Maybe I can transfer the powerwalls over to her. You get a referral code if you just own one of those right?

Not sure about that part, but I was one of the first ones to successfully refer myself lmao. I'm sure they patched it by now 😂
